摘要： The present invention provides a laminate construction including a backing sheet, which may be in the form of a continuous web, and a face sheet covering at least a portion of the backing sheet. A releasable adhesive secures a first or lower surface of the face sheet to a first or upper surface of the backing sheet such that the face sheet and backing sheet are readily separable. The releasable adhesive contains therein a first composition which, when subjected to an imaging force, forms a latent image on both of the first surfaces of the face and backing sheets. This latent image may be developed at a later time by contacting the image with a second composition which, when exposed to the first composition, forms a visible image. In the laminate, the face sheet may be imprinted with legible and/or covert information. The covert information may be duplicated on the underside of the face sheet or on one or more intermediate sheets as well as a backing sheet. The face sheet can then be readily peeled from the construction and be used as a label, tag, form, or the like. The underlying sheets retain the same information as the face sheet. The covert or latent information can be developed at a later time to produce a visible image. All elements of the construction have nontacky surfaces, permitting easy handling and storage.

摘要： A hidden image, which can be made detectable by rubbing, is produced by applying to a substrate surface a first ink-like material in image configuration, then applying a second ink-like material to cover the image and an area surrounding the image. Each of the first and second ink-like materials contain one of a color-forming pair of reactants which are colorless or light colored in their unreacted states, but which together produce a colored product when brought into reactive contact. Separation of the two reactants is assured by encapsulating at least one of the reactant pair. Reactive contact is caused by rubbing the printed area or otherwise applying sufficient pressure to rupture the capsules, releasing one of the reactants into intimate contact with the other reactant.

The patch extends over the opening. The liner material has an upper surface facing the die cut opening in the carrier sheet, and carries a release coating on the upper surface. A two ply label assembly is mounted on the patch of liner material in the die cut opening. The two ply label assembly includes a transparent ply mounted on the upper surface of the patch of liner material, and a label ply mounted on the transparent ply. The form is manufactured by: a.) die cutting an opening in a piece of carrier material; b.) adhesively affixing a patch of liner material to the piece of carrier material; c.) mounting a transparent ply on the patch of liner material within the die cut opening; and d.) mounting a label ply on the transparent ply. The form is used by: a.) removing the label ply from the transparent ply; b.) adhesively securing the label ply to the label support surface; c.) removing the transparent ply from the patch of liner material; and d.) adhesively securing the transparent ply to the label ply and to the label support surface, such that the transparent ply completely covers the label ply, thereby protecting the label ply while permitting the indicia to be viewed.

摘要： This invention relates to apparatus and a method by which a liquid is applied in desired configurations to a continuous web which travels at a relatively high rate. The liquid may be that which is applied by jets or the like. According to this invention after the liquid is applied to the web excess quantities of fusible powder material are applied to the web during travel thereof. Some of the powder material adheres to the liquid, and powder material which does not adhere to the liquid is removed from the web prior to heating of the web to dry the liquid and to fuse the powder material.The liquid which is applied to the web in desired configurations may be a clear or colorless liquid, such as water or the like. The liquid may be a water-base ink or the like. The powder material applied to the wet configurations provide desired color or aesthetic qualities or protective qualities to the configurations and to the web.
