摘要： A facsimile apparatus comprises a housing constituting the outer surface of the facsimile apparatus, an original reading section for conveying an original between a first opening portion formed in a front portion of the upper surface of the housing and a front surface opening portion formed in the front surface of the housing, and a recording section for inserting a recording sheet through a second opening portion formed in the upper surface of the housing at a position closer to the rear side than the first opening portion and for discharging the recording sheet through the first opening portion. A cut sheet can be inserted/discharged through each opening portion. Since the first opening portion is commonly used for both an original and a recording sheet, the depth of the housing can be reduced. In addition, the housing can be designed to be flat and compact so as to be easily carried. The apparatus further includes a storage portion for a battery detachably set through a side surface on the rear side of the housing. A cut sheet can be inserted/discharged through each opening portion. Since the first opening portion is commonly used for both an original and a recording sheet, the depth of the housing can be reduced. In addition, the housing can be designed to be flat and compact so as to be easily carried. Furthermore, the apparatus can be used in a place where no commercial power supply is available, by receiving power from a battery.

In a handyphone, when the incoming signal is received from a wireless line, when a CNG signal or a silent state is detected by a CNG silent detection circuit, a control unit allows an activation signal generation circuit to generate an activation signal. When the activation signal is detected by an activation signal detection circuit of a facsimile terminal, the control unit outputs a first response signal to the handyphone and executes a facsimile reception. After the end of the facsimile reception, the control unit allows the handyphone to output a second response signal indicative of the end of the facsimile reception. When the second response signal is detected, the control unit of the handyphone releases the wireless line.

In addition, a functional expansion unit comprises a roll-like sheet holder for continuously supplying a roll-like recording sheet to a recording section of a compact facsimile apparatus, a power supply section for supplying power to the compact facsimile apparatus, a set portion serving as a mounting base on which the compact facsimile apparatus is mounted, and a connector portion for connecting the compact facsimile apparatus to the unit. If the compact facsimile apparatus is connected to the unit, the resulting structure can be used as a stationary type facsimile apparatus.

When printing of received data is late owing to a print speed lower than a reception rate, a time period required for printing is calculated and some operations are executed according to the calculated time period. When the calculated time period is short for printing a flow control according to the recommendation CCITT T39 is conducted, while when it is longer the data amount corresponding to the time period is calculated and resend of the number of frames corresponding to the calculated data amount is requested to a sending station. Thereby, received data is printed with adequate printing time period.
