    • A graceful conversion of a security to a non-security transparent proxy is performed. A security transparent proxy is an intermediary between two end devices, with an established secure connection with each end device using different security keys. In response to a policy decision or other stimulus, the security transparent proxy is gracefully converted to a non-security transparent proxy such that it can forward, without decrypting and encrypting, the information received from a first endpoint on the first connection therewith to the second endpoint on the second connection therewith. This conversion is “graceful” in that it does not drop either of the two original sessions. In one embodiment, this graceful conversion is accomplished by triggering a key renegotiation on both of the two sessions such that the two connections will use the same encryption key.

    • The subject application is directed to a system and method for simultaneously commencing output of disparately encoded electronic documents. Selection data representative of multiple electronic documents encoded in multiple disparate formats is first received. For example, the electronic documents are capable of being encoded in MICROSOFT OFFICE WORD, MICROSOFT OFFICE EXCEL, ADOBE ACROBAT formats, and the like. Each of the disparate formats is associated with a corresponding software module and then retrieved in accordance with received selection data. Next, the electronic documents are communicated to corresponding software modules, and the document processing device commences a selected document processing operation on each of the electronic documents by a corresponding software module. Each application-specific module is adapted for processing a document processing request for one or more types of documents that are associated with one specific application.

    • In one embodiment, a proxy device located between a first device and a second device intercepts a security session request for a security session between the first device and the second device. The proxy device obtains security information from the first device that includes at least a subject name of the first device. The proxy device creates a dynamic certificate using the subject name of the first device and a trusted proxy certificate of the proxy device. The proxy device establishes a security session between the proxy device and the second device using the dynamic certificate. Further, the proxy device establishes a security session between the first device and the proxy device using the trusted proxy certificate of the proxy device. The two security sessions collectively operate as a security session between the first device and the second device.

On an associated display, a web output is generated and a document processing instructions is received for commencing an operation on a document processing device. A workflow manager commences a workflow instance based upon the received document processing instruction. The workflow instance includes ascertaining the status of the operation, generating an error signal based upon the status, and generating an image on the display that corresponds to the output of the document processing device resulting from the operation. The workflow instance also includes the receipt of a location specified by the user for a data storage that is associated with the operation, and exchanging electronic document data with the user-specified data storage location.

    • The subject application is directed to a mobile document processing system and method. A request for a transient address corresponding to mobile document processing operations is first received from an associated user. Upon receipt of the request, a transient address is generated corresponding to the associated user. Transient address data is then generated for routing electronic documents in accordance with a received document processing request. A document processing request is then received corresponding to a request for the performance of processing of at least one electronic document. The at least one electronic document is then routed to an associated document processing device, data storage device, or facsimile device corresponding to the transient address. The associated document processing device, data storage device, or facsimile device then commences a document processing operation according to the received document processing request. Upon the occurrence of a selected event, the transient address is deleted.

The startup of a plurality of document processing services on an associated document processing device is controlled via a service startup manager. Each of the document processing services is then interfaced with a control system via a device level interface.
