    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating method and apparatus using a coating roller which prevent slippage of the coating roller, and to provide a coating condition setting method and apparatus for a roller coating.
SOLUTION: The coating condition setting method is characterized by setting the moving speed of the coating roller 30 and the flow rate per hour by unit of the coating supplied to the coating roller 30 based on the film thickness of the coating film to be formed, the viscosity of the coating and contact width with the coating roller 30 in the surface to be coated in accordance with the findings that the frictional resistance between the coating roller 30 and the surface to be coated 41 is one of causes of slippage, the frictional resistance is influenced by the coating volume of the coating and the viscosity of the coating, and the relationship between the frictional resistance and the moving speed can be a cause of the slippage generation. Thus, the coating film having a desired thickness can be formed without slipping the coating roller 30 by transferring the coating roller 30 with a proper speed in accordance with the condition leading to the slippage.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the finish appearance by applying a color coating material having good concealing property on an object to be coated and applying a color coating film which has a higher L-value tan that of the fist film and can form a transparent coating film on the first coating film. SOLUTION: A color coating material (A) having good concealing property is applied on an object to be coated. Then, a transparent color coating material (B) is applied thereon to form a double-layer topcoat film. The color coating material (B) is applied on the surface of the film of the color coating material which is hardened or not hardened, and can form a color transparent coating film having a higher L-value (lightness) than that of the color coating material (A). The L-value of a coating film of the color material (B) is determined by the measurement of a film formed by applying the color coating material (B) to the objective film thickness on a burdened white film and then heating to harden. By applying the color coating material B to a film thickness smaller than the concealing film thickness of a hardened film on the film surface of the color coating material (A), the tone of the film of the color coating material (A) adjacent under is visible through the film of the coating material (B). On the other hand, if the color coating material B is applied to a film thickness larger than the concealing film thickness, the tone of the color coating material (A) is hardly visible.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain such a film that, even when dust or particles depositing on the film are removed by polishing, the tone of the polished part is not different from a part not polished, by applying a color coating material on an object to be coated and applying a metallic coating material containing a specified amt. of a metallic pigment to the resin solid content on the surface of the first coating. SOLUTION: A color coating material (A) prepared by dissolving or dispersing a base resin, a crosslinking agent and a color pigment in a solvent is applied on the objective body. A metallic coating material (B) prepared by dissolving or dispersing a base resin, a crosslinking agent and a metallic pigment in a solvent is applied on the surface of the first coating film which is hardened or not hardened. Then the film is hardened by heating. The metallic coating material (B) contains 0.01 to 1 pts.wt. metallic pigment which gives metallic appearance to the coating film per 100 pts.wt. of a resin solid content, and is applied on the surface of the film of the color coating material (A). A single film of the coating material (B) shows metallic gloss, and the film of the color coating material (A) adjacent under the film of the coating material (B) is visible through the film of the coating material (B). Thus, the double-layered coating film having excellent decorating property as a synergic effect of these films can be formed.
