摘要： Applicants have discovered new catalysts based on coprecipitated mixtures or solid solutions of alkaline earth oxides and rare earth oxides, such as mixtures or solid solutions of magnesium oxide and cerium oxide, Mg.sub.5 CeO.sub.x, or magnesium oxide and yttrium oxide, Mg.sub.5 YO.sub.x, which catalyze aldol condensation reactions leading to the selective formation of branched C.sub.4 alcohols. Applicants' catalysts may also contain a Group IB metallic component and further an alkali dopant. Preferably Cu in concentrations at or lower than 30 wt % and K in concentrations at or lower than 3 wt % will be used. Applicants' catalysts afford the advantage of being run at pressures lower than those required by prior art catalysts and are more active and selective to methanol and isobutanol.

摘要： Methods are provided for hydroprocessing a feed (such as hydrotreating, hydrocracking, or hydrofining a feed) to generate a product with a reduced or minimized aromatics content relative to the severity of the hydroprocessing conditions. In some types of hydroprocessing applications, it can be desirable to select the severity of hydroprocessing conditions to achieve a desired level of removal for sulfur, a desired level for removal of nitrogen, and/or a desired level for increasing the viscosity index of a feed. The severity for heteroatom removal and/or viscosity index uplift can also correspond to an amount of conversion of a feed to lower boiling point products, so the lowest severity conditions suitable for achieving a product quality can be desirable. By improving the aromatics saturation during hydroprocessing, the severity of subsequent aromatics saturation processes can be reduced.

摘要： In a dehydrogenation process a hydrocarbon stream comprising at least one non-aromatic six-membered ring compound and at least one five-membered ring compound is contacted with a dehydrogenation catalyst produced by a method comprising treating the support with a liquid composition comprising the dehydrogenation component or a precursor thereof and at least one organic dispersant selected from an amino alcohol and an amino acid. The contacting is conducted under conditions effective to convert at least a portion of the at least one non-aromatic six-membered ring compound in the hydrocarbon stream to benzene and to convert at least a portion of the at least one five-membered ring compound in the hydrocarbon stream to paraffins.

摘要： A reduced or partially reduced nickel-molybdenum catalyst prepared by a process having the steps of 1) reacting nickel carbonate and molybdenum oxide precursors to form nickel molybdate and 2) treating the nickel molybdate under reducing conditions to form the reduced or partially reduced nickel-molybdenum catalyst. There is also a process for making the catalyst. There is also a process for using the catalyst in the hydrogenation of an oxo aldehyde, thereby forming an oxo alcohol of high selectivity. There is also a process for forming an oxo alcohol from the hydroformylation/hydrogenation of an olefinic feedstream. There is also a process for forming an oxo alcohol by contacting formates, dimers, trimers, and organic acids with hydrogen in the presence of a reduced or partially reduced nickel-molybdenum catalyst. The foregoing processes are also useful with a catalyst having the general formula YxZ wherein Y is nickel and/or cobalt and Z is molybdenum and/or tungsten; and wherein x ranges between about 0.25 to about 4.0. There are also reduced or partially reduced catalysts of the general formula NixMo or YxZ wherein x ranges between about 0.25 to about 4.0 and wherein oxide precursors of the catalysts are substantially free of ammonium groups.
