    • A method and apparatus for rendering a color image on a delta-structured display are provided. The method for rendering a color image on a display apparatus in which a pixel expressing an input image is formed with delta-structured sub-pixels, the method comprising: (a) forming a scaling filter which is used to make the resolution of the input image correspond to the resolution of the display apparatus; (b) obtaining a representative value of a sub-pixel of the display apparatus corresponding to a consideration area which is an area processed by the scaling filter in the input image; (c) obtaining the value of the sub-pixel based on the difference of pixels in the consideration area in the input image; (d) performing gamma correction of the sub-pixel value so that the sub-pixel is appropriate to the display apparatus; and (e) rendering the gamma-adjusted sub-pixel value on the display apparatus. By using the sub-pixel rendering method of a display apparatus, resolution is improved and the color fringe that can occur due to sub-pixel rendering is reduced.

    • An apparatus and a method are provided for reducing color error in a display having a sub-pixel structure. The method includes: setting at least two directions based on a sub-pixel to be displayed and calculating differences of brightness values of at least two pixels or sub-pixels positioned in the set directions; selecting one of at least two of the differences and determining a direction indicated by the selected difference; determining at least one sub-pixel or pixel neighboring the sub-pixel to be displayed in consideration of the determined direction; and filtering a brightness value of the sub-pixel to be displayed and a brightness value of the determined at least one sub-pixel or pixel and re-assigning the filtered brightness value to the sub-pixel to be displayed.

    • An image display apparatus and method are provided. The image display apparatus includes an external light detection module which detects an intensity of external illumination; a storage module which stores a plurality of light emitting unit control values; and a control module which selectively performs, according to a result of a determination, a lightness compensation operation for compensating a lightness of a light emitting unit and a visibility adjustment operation for adjusting the visibility of the original input image. The image-displaying device includes a luminance information extraction unit which is configured to extract luminance information from an image; an image enhancement decision unit which is configured to decide an image enhancement mode based on the extracted luminance information; a pixel control unit which is configured to control a pixel of the image by the decided image enhancement mode; and an image output unit which is configured to output the pixel-controlled image.
