    • An ink jet printing apparatus and ink jet printing method are provided that are capable of implementing an overcoating in which an interference color of a particular wavelength is not generated, without consuming more clear ink than necessary to overcoat the image. For this, a first application step is provided that prints clear ink during the printing of the image on the print medium using color ink, or after the printing step has been completed, and after taking time for the applied clear ink to fix, a second application step is provided that prints clear ink again.
