    • This invention provides a metal halide lamp and a lighting equipment that, despite the fact that mercury is not filled, can provide electrical characteristics comparable with a mercury-contained metal halide lamp and can provide luminescent characteristics favorably comparable with the mercury-contained metal halide lamp. A metal halide lamp MHL includes a hermetically sealed vessel 1, a pair of electrodes 2, and a discharge medium filled in the hermetically sealed vessel. The discharge medium contains a first halide, a second halide, and a rare gas. The first halide is composed mainly of a halide of a luminescent metal and contains a halide of thulium (Tm) filled at the highest filling ratio in all of metal halides filled in the hermetically sealed vessel, and the content of an alkali metal halide in the first halide is less than 10% by mass at the highest. The second halide is composed mainly of a metal halide for constituting a lamp voltage, and the content of the second halide is 5 to 20% by mass with respect to all of the metal halides filled in the hermetically sealed vessel. The discharge medium is substantially free from mercury.

    • Downsizing a piston stroke dimension in a compressor that reciprocates pistons is accomplished by changing a radial directional component of a shaft of a motion that is transferred to a link from a revolving member revolved by the shaft when transferred to the link attached to the pistons. Thereby, when the revolving member, driven by a shaft, revolves once, a center of a sliding pin appears to reciprocate once in a vertical direction as it goes back and forth on both sides interposing a piston axial line. Thus, when the revolving member revolves once, the piston reciprocates twice in a cylinder bore in a direction parallel to the longitudinal direction of the driving shaft.

    • In a scroll compressor, the moving scroll member is engaged with the stationary scroll member while centrally offset from each other so that they define an actuation chamber between them. When driven by the crank of the compressor shaft and blocked against rotation by the rotation restricting plate, the moving scroll member revolves to compress the fluid in the actuation chamber, and because of the relationship between the compression reaction force and the driving force, a moment is produced to incline the moving scroll member, so that the moving scroll member rises at a portion of the thrust bearing plate, the contact pressure between the scroll members is increased, and a larger driving force is required. Accordingly, the attraction force of the magnet and magnetic body is utilized to press the moving scroll member against the thrust bearing plate. This force can be generated due to the attracting force or repulsing force between magnets, or by the force of a spring. Therefore, according to the present invention, the tooth width of both scroll members can be made larger.
