摘要： A method for taking measurements with a smart antenna in a wireless communication system having a plurality of STAs begins by sending a measurement request from a first STA to a second STA. At least two measurement packets are transmitted consecutively from the second STA to the first STA. Each measurement packet is received at the first STA using a different antenna beam. The first STA performs measurements on each measurement packet and selects an antenna beam direction based on the measurement results.

The beacon frame is received at the STA, which measures the signal quality of the beacon frame. The AP switches to a different antenna beam and repeats the method until the beacon frame has been transmitted on all antenna beams. The STA associates to the AP that transmits the beacon frame with the highest signal quality on one of its antenna beams. A similar method may be used in which the STA sends a probe request frame to the AP, which then responds with probe response frames sent on multiple antenna beams.

摘要： A system for exchanging smart antenna capability information between a transmitting station (STA) and a receiving STA in a wireless communication system includes an antenna capability information element (IE) that includes information regarding the capability of the transmitting STA. The antenna capability IE is sent from the transmitting STA to the receiving STA prior to data transmission between the transmitting STA and the receiving STA. When used in a wireless local area network, the antenna capability IE can be sent as part of a management frame, control frame, or data frame.

The WTRU next performs constant envelope (CE) modulation on the data and transmits the CE-OFDM data to the base station. The base station receives the data and CE demodulates the data. 摘要： Methods and systems for sending and receiving an enhanced downlink control channel are disclosed. The method may include receiving control channel information via an enhanced control channel. The method may also include using the control channel information to receive a shared channel. The method may include detecting the presence of the enhanced control channel in a given subframe. The enhanced control channel may be transmitted over multiple antenna ports. For example, code divisional multiplexing and de-multiplexing and the use of common and UE-specific reference signals may be utilized. New control channel elements may be defined, and enhanced control channel state information (CSI) feedback may be utilized. The presence or absence of legacy control channels may affect the demodulation and or decoding methods. The method may be implemented at a WTRU.

Physical downlink control channel implementation for carrier aggregation is also disclosed. DRX methods are disclosed including a common DRX protocol that may be applied across all component carriers, an individual/independent DRX protocol that is applied on each component carrier, and hybrid approaches that are applied across affected component carriers. Methods for addressing the effects of loss of synchronization on DRX, impact of scheduling request on DRX, uplink power control during DRX, and DRX operation in measurement gaps are disclosed.

摘要： Techniques for configuring and switching a resource assignment mode for a plurality of component carriers are disclosed. A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) has a capability of supporting multiple resource assignment modes such that a resource assignment mode is configured for a plurality of component carriers that are allocated for the WTRU, and the WTRU attempts to decode a control channel based on the configured resource assignment mode. The resource assignment mode may be configured for the WTRU via higher layer signaling. The resource assignment mode may be specific to the WTRU, or specific to a component carrier or a group of component carriers. The resource assignment mode may be configured separately for a downlink component carrier and an uplink component carrier. The resource assignment mode includes a separate assignment mode with component carrier indication, a separate assignment mode without component carrier indication, or a joint assignment mode.
