    • One embodiment of the present invention provides an implantable valve prosthesis. The valve prosthesis includes a frame defining a lumen extending between a proximal frame end and a distal frame end along a longitudinal axis, and a first valve leaflet positioned within the lumen and having a distal edge attached to the frame and a proximal edge free of the frame. The first valve leaflet comprises a first and a second slit extend distally from the proximal edge and defining a free portion of the first valve leaflet between the first and second slits. The first valve leaflet is movable between a first position that allows fluid flow in a first, antegrade, direction and a second position that restricts flow in a second, retrograde direction.

    • Medical devices, as well as methods of treatment and manufacturing such devices, are provided for applying vascular therapy locally within the body vessel. The medical devices include an expandable tubular frame and a sleeve. The medical devices can be used for local delivery of a therapeutic agent within a body vessel or a tamponade for a lacerated body vessel, while simultaneously allowing perfusion of fluid or blood flow distal of the implanted medical device. The tubular frame of the medical device can have a middle region with a plurality of members. The members can expand radially outward away from a longitudinal axis of the tubular frame, which can urge the sleeve to contact the wall of the body vessel. In the expanded configuration, a portion of the device allows fluid flow to continue while the sleeve is against the body vessel wall.

    • A flow-deflecting medical device comprising a support structure and at least one flow-deflecting member attached to the support structure. The flow-deflecting member is at least partially evertible between a first position and a second position. In the first position, antegrade flow contacts the antegrade surface of the flow-deflecting member, urging the flow-deflecting member proximally in the body vessel, such that antegrade flow is substantially uninterrupted. In the second position, retrograde flow contacts the retrograde surface of the flow-deflecting member, urging the flow-deflecting member distally in the body vessel, such that retrograde flow is received and redirected by the flow-deflecting member. Also provided is a method for treating a body vessel valve-related condition comprising implanting a flow-deflecting medical device proximal to a native valve.

    • A drainage catheter with a distal member end that is lockable in a desired loop configuration for retaining the catheter in a body cavity such as the bladder. The lockable drainage catheter includes a flexible tension member for drawing the distal member end into a loop. The tension member extends through a lockable connector positioned about the proximal member end. The lockable connector includes a resilient material sleeve with a sleeve passage extending longitudinally therethrough for positioning the tension member therein. The sleeve is positioned in a passage of the connector adjacent a channel wherein a pivotedly attached lever is positioned. When the lever is pivoted toward the connector into a fixed position, a cam surface of the lever compresses the sleeve and locks thereabout to maintain the loop formed in the distal member end.

    • The present invention provides, in certain aspects, devices and methods for protecting the body from downstream embolization. In one embodiment, a distal protection device comprises a shaft and a jacket with the shaft being received within the jacket. The device also includes a filter, which is supported by a wire cone that has one end attached to the jacket and an opposite end attached to the shaft. The shaft is rotatable relative to the jacket to reduce the size of the cone for capturing embolic debris within the wire cone. The invention also provides such devices in combination with instruments (e.g., balloon stent catheters) for treating stenosis and other similar conditions.
