    • The motor unit (4) with a water cooled engine block (5) and a gear-box (6) with substantially free access is arranged symmetrically with respect to the vertical central plane of the motocycle (1). It takes substantially the space between the front wheel (37) and the rear-wheel (35). In the running direction are arranged a water cooler (7) positioned transversally and vertically, several parallel transversal cylinders (1) and a longitudinal crankshaft (15). The gear-box (6) extends under and/or behind the engine block (5). In order to provide a compact motor unit including the accessories, cheap to manufacture, it has a low gravity centre, presents a substantially symmetrical and smooth contour, has a low noise level and has a compact device for the filtering of the exhaust gases, the cylinders (1) are set in a row, the heads thereof being on the same side. The crankshaft (15) is offset in parallel towards the other side and outside the central plane (16). Crank-cases (25, 26) respectively for the valve chamber (28) and for the crankshaft chamber define the symmetrical outer limits of the motor unit (4). Underneath the crank-cases (25, 26) are arranged, on one side, a portion of the filtering device for the exhaust gases (22) and, on the other side, a portion of the crankshaft chamber (14), of which the width is reduced. The crank-cases are arranged so as to provide a substantially symmetrical outer configuration of the motor unit (4). The water cooler (7) is located at the upper angle before the engine block (5) and throughout the width of the motor unit (4) to ensure a good air exposure and some kind of protection against dust coming from the front wheel. To obtain a free air flow towards the water cooler (7), frame tubes (29, 30) extend obliquely upwards and towards the steering tube of the motocycle (1) from the front upper angle and the water cooler (7) is located in front of the tube (29, 30) and projects on both sides.

    • In a cylindre head (1) of a water cooled internal combustion engine, which may be provided by pressure casting, all the water volumes (2 to@5) in the form of recesses extend up to the interface cylindre-head cylindre block and surround substantially the combustion chambers (6).
