    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To assist opening operation of a door using a corner sensor for parking.
      SOLUTION: The vehicle door contact avoiding assistance device is provided with a plurality of sensors on corner parts at a front side and/or at a rear side of a vehicle body respectively, detecting an obstacle opposed to each corner part at at least parking action of the vehicle and outputting a distance of the obstacle and the corner part and a direction from the corner part relative to the obstacle; a position operation part for operating a coordinate value of the obstacle at a predetermined coordinate system from the distance and the direction; a memory part for memorizing the coordinate value of the obstacle as a history; an area setting part for operating an area including an area required for opening of the door of the vehicle body in the predetermined coordinate system or previously memorizing the area; a presumption part for presuming whether or not opening/closing of the door is safe based on the history and the area; and an informing means for informing an occupant of whether or not releasing of the door is safe based on the presumption result of the presumption part.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an obstacle detector capable of detecting accurately a position, a shape, and a space of an obstacle in the periphery of a vehicle, over a wide range. SOLUTION: A transmission wave is transmitted from each of elements array-like arranged, and a reflected wave thereof in the obstacle is received by the each element. A distance up to the obstacle is calculated based on reception times of received signals thereof, and a direction of the obstacle is calculated based on phase differences of the reception signals in the respective elements. The phase difference of the transmission signal input into the each element is changed properly to control a multiplex directivity of the transmission wave, and a coefficient multiplied to the reception signal of the each element is changed properly to control the a multiplex directivity of the reception wave, for the purpose of detecting the obstacle over the wide range. In particular, the directivity is switched alternately between a narrow angle and a wide angle, by setting a phase difference alternately into the same phase or a reverse phase between the adjacent elements, to detect the position of the obstacle over the wide range.
