摘要： A system and method for data replication is provided. A host synchronously replicates data between a first local storage device and a second local storage device, the first local storage device and the second local storage device being coupled to the host. Data is then asynchronously replicated from the first local storage device and the second local storage device to at least one remote storage device. In an embodiment, each of the local storage devices may asynchronously replicate data to remote storage devices located at separate sites to provide four site data replication processing. The system described herein provides for advantageous and efficient swapping of control between hosts and storage devices located in different regions in response to disasters and/or other events affecting data storage in a particular region.

摘要： Maintaining tape emulation consistency includes writing additional tape data to a first local storage device at a local site, writing tape emulation data to a second local storage device at the local site, where the second local storage device is different from the first local storage device, and maintaining consistency of the first and second local storage devices in connection with transferring data to a remote site. Maintaining consistency of the first and second local storage devices may include initiating a cycle switch that causes a concurrent cycle change from a first cycle to a second cycle for the first and second local storage devices. Additional tape data and tape emulation data written before a first time is associated with a first cycle. Additional tape data and tape emulation data written after the first time and before a second time is associated with a second cycle.

摘要： Recovering data provided in chunks to a plurality of secondary storage devices includes, for each of the secondary storage devices, discarding data corresponding chunks for which all data thereof has not been received, and, for each of the secondary storage devices, restoring a chunk of data thereto where all of the chunks of data restored to the plurality of secondary storage devices correspond to a particular transmission cycle of primary storage devices that provide data to the plurality of secondary storage devices. Recovering data may also include, following discarding and prior to restoring, for each of the plurality of secondary storage devices having two different chunks, waiting for external intervention to indicate whether to restore a particular one of the chunks. The external intervention may be provided by a host computer that is proximate to at least one of the secondary storage devices or may be provided by a host computer that is proximate to at least one of the primary storage computers.
