    • A memory card connector includes an interior cavity for receiving a memory card. An insulating housing has a rear terminal-mounting section and at least one longitudinal side wall section extending forwardly from one end of the rear section. A metal shell covers at least a portion of the insulating housing and includes a cover plate overlying at least a portion of the longitudinal side wall section of the housing An engaging structure includes an engaging projection on one of the cover plate of the metal shell or the top surface of the side wall section of the housing extending into an engaging opening in the other of the cover plate or top surface to prevent relative movement therebetween in a plane generally parallel to the cover plate and top surface. A slight clearance is provided between the engaging projection and the engaging opening to avoid creating residual stresses in the housing.

    • A card connector is disclosed. The card connector has a configuration such that a switch accommodation space accommodating therein a detection switch which is arranged along an inner wall surface of a card accommodation space is covered by a movable cover member that blocks at least a space between the card accommodation space and the switch accommodation space. As a result, it is possible to reliably prevent foreign material from adhering onto a detection switch and enable the detection switch to detect a card accurately. Moreover, the card connector can be produced by a simple assembling process to have a simple and small structure at a low cost with high reliability thereof.

    • A card connector comprises a housing, connection terminals, a card guide mechanism and a cover member.     • A card connector (1) is disclosed. The card connector (1) comprises a housing (11), at least one terminal (51), a card guiding mechanism and an identification switch. The housing (11) is configured to accommodate a card adapter (101), in which a first card (201) is fitted, or a second card (301). Each of the at least one terminals (51) is attached to the housing (11). The card guiding mechanism includes an urging member (81). The urging member (81) is configured to urge the card adapter (101) or the second card (301) in a direction opposite to an insertion direction. The card guiding mechanism is configured to hold in a lock position the card adapter (101) or the second card (301) pushed in the insertion direction by way of push operation. The identification switch is formed by a first contact member (52) and a second contact member (53), and is arranged further inward in the insertion direction from an insertion direction front end (301a) of the second card (301) held in the lock position. The identification switch is configured to identify the card adapter (101) and the second card (301). The card adapter (101) has a front projection (103) extending forward from an insertion direction front end (101a). The first contact member (52) is displaced in the thickness direction of the card adapter (101) and comes into contact with the second contact member (53) when abutting against the front projection (103) of the card adapter (101).

    • A memory card connector (12) includes an insulative housing (16) having a terminal-mounting section which mounts a plurality of conductive terminals (18) having contact portions for engaging appropriate contacts on a memory card (24). The housing at least in part defines a card-receiving cavity (26) for receiving the memory card. A card eject mechanism (20) includes a slider (44) movably mounted on the housing. The slider has a hook (44d) releasably engaged in a recess (50) in the memory card for conjoint movement of the slider and memory card into and out of the cavity between an outer initial position and an inner connection position. An ejection spring (46) biases the slider and memory card in an ejection direction (E) toward the initial position. A metal shell (14) is mounted on the housing and combines therewith in defining the card­receiving cavity. The metal shell includes a leaf spring (60,60A) having a projection (62) engageable with the slider to forcibly retain the hook on the slider in the recess in the memory card.
