    • The application relates to a mechanical coupling for transmission of a rotational movement around an axis of rotation (15). The coupling comprises two separate, identically shaped coupling parts (11, 12), wherein at least one of the coupling parts (11, 12) can be fixed to a torque transmitting element. Each of the coupling parts has at least one protruding element (13, 14) that fits into a recess (17, 18) of the other coupling part (11, 12), and at least one elastic element (26, 28) is provided between the wall (20, 21) of at least one recess (26, 28) and a protruding element (13, 14) that fits into the recess. Further, at least one of the elastic elements (26, 28) comprises at least two legs (22, 23), wherein at least two legs fit on different sides of the protruding element (13, 14) between the protruding element and the side walls (20, 21) of the recess and wherein the two legs (22, 23) are connected by at least one bottom part (24).

    • A damper assembly has a chain, a first mounting element and a second mounting element. The chain has a longitudinal axis and comprising a plurality of links pivotally interconnected by transverse articulation elements. It has a straight configuration in which the links are substantially aligned in a linear direction, and has at least one resilient member configured to force adjacent links of the chain to articulate out of the straight configuration. The first and second mounting elements are each attached to the chain and are movable relative to one another between a first position and a second position, and are arranged to urge the chain towards the straight configuration when they are moved towards the second position.

    • A chain such as that used in a fork lift truck carriage lifting mechanism has a plurality of interleaved link assemblies each having a pair of outer link plates and a plurality of intermediate link plates. The outer link plate has a strength less than that of any intermediate link plate when measured in an unassembled state. The reduced strength may be achieved by a reduction in thickness or head area of the link plate. The outer link plates may have a stiffness of 60 % to 90 % of the average stiffness across the chain and a first group of intermediate link plates of certain chain configurations have a stiffness of 70 % to 90 % of the average stiffness of the chain. The invention provides for a chain in which the load is more evenly shared between link plates and allows a single composite chain to be replaced by two smaller chains without loss of load capacity.

    • A sprag clutch having inner and outer concentric races (1, 2) with sprags (3) pivotally located between the races (1, 2). A circumferential garter spring (6) locates over the sprags (3) to bias them to a wedging position. Relative rotation of the races (1, 2) in one direction causes a centrifugal force (CF) to act on each sprag (3) to pivot it away from contact with the outer race (2). The centre of gravity (G) of each sprag (3) is located radially inwards of its centre of rotation (C) such that when the sprag (3) pivots the centrifugal couple (CF) increases to overcome the increased tension couple (SF) of the garter spring to allow a snap action lift off of each sprag (3). The snap action substantially reduces the contact time between the sprags (3) and the outer race (2) and hence wear is reduced.

    • A load monitoring system for use with a load conveyor (1) such as a lifting assembly of a forklift truck or other mobile load handler. The conveyor has a load support (3) for supporting a load to be conveyed and a load-bearing chain or cable (6). A load transducer (5) is attached to the load conveyor and generates an output signal representative of the load applied to the chain at any particular point in time. From the output signal the time during which the element has been used in a particular load range is determined as well as the remaining service life of the element. The load data may be collected and processed locally or may be transmitted to a remote computer (21) or hand-held device (22) for analysis. The mobile load handler may also have a data reader (26) so that that it may be used in inventory management in which a plurality of loads each labelled with load identification data (40) are moved between a plurality of storage zones (42) each labelled with location identification data by the handler. A data storage device (30) stores and processes the data so as to provide a log of the movement of a given load by the mobile load handler.
