    • The push actuator has a fixed base which rotatably carries a selectively rotatable rotor. A horizontal band has a lower portion stacked in a helical pattern and has an upper portion engaged by the upper portion of a vertical band, to form a telescopic column. The lower portion of the vertical band is stacked in a spiral, separately from the horizontal band, the horizontal band is supported on the rotor with a helical ball support track along which a number of balls can roll and slide, to allow substantially frictionless rotation of the rotor member while the horizontal band remains rotatably stationary. A ball re-circulation unit allows the balls to circulate between the top of the track and the bottom of the track. Upon rotation of the rotor, the vertical column is formed by the horizontal band being lifted and its turns being spaced through its engagement on the rotating helical ball support track, and by each turn of the vertical band being inserted between two vertically successive turns of the horizontal band.

    • A conveyor conveys palletized articles to a loading dock. A bogie movable along rails between different loading docks, supports an independently movable carriage, which may roll out of the bogie once the latter reaches a desired loading dock. The carriage then loads with a forklift provided on the carriage, the articles from the conveyor into a semi-trailer located at the loading dock. The carriage is provided with a linkage pivotally installed on its main frame, the linkage carrying four lateral guide wheels which protrude laterally beyond all other structural elements of the carriage. The linkage integrally links the guide wheels into a common pivotal displacement, with the guide wheels remaining symmetrically disposed relative to the carriage frame. A hydraulic piston biases the guide wheels towards an outer limit position at all times, and the guide wheels are forcibly pivotable, against the bias of the piston, towards an inner limit position. The bogie carrying the carriage is provided with fixed lateral railings, and with pivotable gates which may be pivoted into an opened condition when the bogie is in facing register with the loading dock, until the gates outer free end portions abut against the inner side walls of the semi-trailer. Thus, continuous side panels are formed on each side of the carriage, by the railings, gates and semi-trailer side walls. The carriage may then move between the bogie and semi-trailer with its guide wheels continuously engaging the side panels, for allowing the carriage to self-align and self-center itself into the semi-trailer due to the bias on the linkage of the piston while article loading and unloading operations are accomplished.

    • There is disclosed a disc brake for a fluid-operated motor; the brake includes a disc keyed to the output shaft of the motor and sandwiched between non-rotatable plates which are spring-biased to disc braking position. The flexible conduit, which feeds the fluid to the motor, extends between the two plates. When fluid in the conduit is not pressurized, the conduit is flattened and the brake is in braking position, but the brake is released as soon as the fluid is pressurized within the conduit, since the latter takes its normally cylindrical shape and separates the two plates.

    • An impact actuator assembly has a housing having a front, a rear, two opposite sides, a top and a bottom, and defining an actuator receiving area. A hydraulic actuator is fixedly mounted in the actuator receiving area, and provided with an actuator head, at least a portion of which extends forwardly of the actuator receiving area. A nosepiece is fixedly attached to the front of the housing at a distance from the actuator receiving area, defining a space between the nosepiece and the actuator head. The nosepiece is provided with at least one longitudinal hollow guide for receiving a tool pin, each of the tool pins having a rear and a front. The rear of the tool pin extends in the space between the nosepiece and the actuator head and the front of tool pin extends beyond the front of the housing. A plurality of hydraulic connectors are mounted on the housing and operatively connected to the actuator. When the actuator is actuated, the actuator head is engaged in reciprocating longitudinal movement to cyclically impact the tool pin.
