摘要： A display device is provided that comprises a liquid crystal display panel for displaying an image by spatial light modulation, and circuitry for switching liquid crystal in the panel between having a first configuration in a first mode to cause an image displayed using the panel to be discernible from a wide range of viewing angles, and having a second configuration in a second mode to cause an image displayed using the panel to be discernible substantially only from within a narrow range of viewing angles. Several types of display panel to achieve such in-panel switching between public and private viewing modes are disclosed.

摘要： A piezoelectric sensing device is described for measuring material thickness of target such as pipes, tubes, and other conduits that carry fluids. The piezoelectric sensing device comprises a substrate such as a flexible circuit material, a piezoceramic element, and a solder layer disposed therebetween. These features are arranged in manner that provides a low-profile measurement device suitable for high-temperature applications such as those applications in which the temperature exceeds 120° C. Embodiments of the piezoelectric sensing device can be configured for use as stand-alone units separately located on the target or for use as a string of sensing elements coupled together by way of the flexible circuit material.

摘要： Apparatuses useful for printing and methods of treating marking material on media are provided. An exemplary embodiment of the apparatuses useful for printing includes a roll including a first outer surface; a continuous belt including an inner surface and a second outer surface forming a nip by contact with the first outer surface, the belt being driven to rotate by rotation of the roll; a heater disposed inside of the belt and comprising a first heating surface contacting the inner surface of the belt at the nip; and a heating fin in thermal contact with the heater, the heating fin including a second heating surface extending circumferentially in contact with a pre-nip portion of the inner surface of the belt. Thermal energy is conducted from the heater to the heating fin. The second heating surface pre-heats the pre-nip portion of the belt before the pre-nip portion is rotated to the nip, and the first heating surface of the heater heats the pre-heated, pre-nip portion at the nip.
