    • A first fixed scroll has a first fixed wrap, and a first orbiting scroll has a first orbiting wrap. The first orbiting scroll is rotatably mounted to an eccentric portion of a driving shaft. The first fixed wrap is engaged with the first orbiting wrap to form a first compression chamber in which pressure is changed towards the center of the first orbiting scroll. A second fixed scroll has a second fixed wrap and a second orbiting scroll has a second orbiting wrap which is engaged with the second fixed wrap. The first orbiting scroll is connected to the second orbiting scroll by a pin inserted a partition wall between the first and second orbiting scrolls, thereby rotating the first orbiting scroll together with the second orbiting scroll when the first orbiting scroll is driven by the driving shaft via the eccentric portion.

    • An oil-free two-stage vacuum pump includes first and second pump stages coupled in series. The first and second pump stages have discharge spaces capable of communicating with each other via a bypass passage. The bypass passage is provided with a pressure control valve which is closed when pressure in the bypass passage is lower than a predetermined pressure. This permits a reduction in scroll size. In addition, the pump is free from problems present in pumps with large scroll sizes such as drive shaft vibrations due to warping thereof at high speed rotation, noise and heat generation, and durability reduction due to causes such as non-uniform contact between stationary and revolving scrolls. Moreover, in a compression step in the first pump stage, withdrawn gas is under high pressure; the gas pressure in a sealed vessel is close to the atmospheric pressure in an initial stage of driving. With a pressure increase beyond a predetermined pressure, a pressure control valve is opened so that compressed gas under high pressure is no longer supplied to the second pump stage; the compressed gas is instead exhausted to the outside environment. The second pump stage thus does not withdraw compressed gas under a pressure higher than atmospheric pressure, and is free from heat generation that might result from excessive compression.

    • An image forming method comprises the steps of (a) exposing a silver halide photographic light-sensitive material comprising a first support and provided thereon, a photographic component layer comprising a first binder, light sensitive silver halide and a sparingly water soluble metal compound; (b) superposing the exposed material on an image receiving material comprising a second support and provided thereon, an image receiving layer comprising a second binder and a compound represented by Formula (I), ##STR1## wherein A represents a cycloalkyl group, an aryl group or a heterocyclic ring; and M.sub.1 and M.sub.2 independently represent an alkali metal atom, an ammonium ion or a quaternary ammonium ion; (c) heating the superposed materials in the presence of water; and (d) separating the image receiving material from the exposed material to obtain an image on the image receiving layer of the image receiving material.
