摘要： In a transflective liquid crystal display device, assuming that a narrower angle among angles formed by the initial liquid crystal alignment direction of a liquid crystal layer, and the projection direction of a pixel electrode of a transmissive unit is θt and that a narrower angle among angles formed by the initial liquid crystal alignment direction of the liquid crystal layer, and the projection direction of a pixel electrode of a reflective unit is θr, (1) when the liquid crystal layer possesses a positive-type liquid crystal, the relation of θt>θr is satisfied, and (2) when the liquid crystal layer possesses a negative-type liquid crystal, the relation of θr>θt is satisfied. The relations are satisfied by slanting or bending at least one of the pixel electrodes, and the reflectivity is improved.

摘要： Light leakage between pixel electrodes over a video signal line in a TN-type liquid crystal display device in which a dot inversion driving is applied with a three o'clock viewing angle is prevented. Pixel electrodes (PX) are formed on both sides of a video signal line (DL) of a first substrate (SUB1), and an end of the pixel electrode (PX) and the video signal line (DL) overlap each other. Over a second substrate (SUB2), a black matrix (BM) is formed in a portion corresponding to the video signal line (DL). By shifting the black matrix BM and the video signal line DL to the left with respect to a gap G between the pixel electrodes PX, it is possible to prevent light leakage caused by a disclination line (DS) which occurs by a horizontal electric field between pixel electrodes (PX).

摘要： A liquid crystal display panel is provided with a light-shielding film, and a plurality of subpixels arranged in a matrix. The subpixels each include a first electrode formed on a first substrate, a second electrode formed to be located upper than the first electrode, and a color filter formed on a second substrate. The second electrode has a plurality of linear portions. The subpixels are disposed adjacently along the direction of display lines, and any two of the adjacent subpixels have the same color of color filter. The light-shielding film is formed on the second substrate not to cover the pixel boundary between the two adjacent subpixels but to cover pixel boundaries of the remaining subpixels. The second electrodes of the two adjacent subpixels are formed separately, and assuming that the two adjacent subpixels are first and second subpixels, at least the second electrode of the first subpixel is disposed also to an area of the second subpixel beyond the pixel boundary between the first and second subpixels. Such a configuration favorably increases an aperture ratio of a liquid crystal display device including a color filter.
