摘要： A pair of sensor patterns detect a passage position in a sub-scan direction of a light beam scanned over a surface of a photosensitive drum. The sensor patterns have, for example, trapezoidal shapes and are disposed symmetrical at a position equivalent to a position of the surface to be scanned. The sensor patterns are juxtaposed in a scan direction of the light beam at a predetermined interval therebetween. An output integration value from one of the paired photodetector elements successively increases while an output integration value from the other photodetector element successively decreases in relation to a variation of a passage position of the light beam in the sub-scan direction. On the basis of a difference between the output integration values of the paired sensor patterns, the passage position of the light beam in the sub-scan direction is detected.

On the basis of the result of the sensing, the light beam is shifted in the sub-scanning direction when the beam is made to scan by a scanner so that the passing position may come in a target range, which brings the passing position to the proper position. After the position control, the passing position of the light beam is confirmed and controlled so that the passing position may fall on the proper position a specific number of times consecutively. When the light beam is shifted in the sub-scanning direction, the passing position of the light beam is brought into a final target range in such a manner that the target range is forced to converge stepwise in a first range and then in a second range narrower than the first range.

摘要： An image forming apparatus including a plurality of latent image forming units for forming latent images on a plurality of image carriers, a plurality of developing devices for forming developed images by developing the latent images formed by the latent image forming units, and an image conveyer belt for conveying the developed images formed by the developing devices. The image forming apparatus further contains a registration sensor for detecting the developed images conveyed on the image conveyer belt, and the registration sensor has a light source, a first optical fiber element for guiding the light from the light source and illuminating the image conveyer belt to obtain the reflected light, a second optical fiber element for guiding the reflected light in a specified direction, and a light receiving element for converting the reflected light guided by the second optical fiber element into an electric signal. The image forming apparatus has a computing device for a computing misregistration correcting amount to correct the misregistration of each of the developed images conveyed by the image conveyer belt based on the detecting result of the registration sensor and executes the correction of the misregistration based on the computed result of the computing device.

摘要： In a color image forming apparatus such as a color laser printer, misregistration of colors of an output image along a subscanning direction is minimized so as to prevent accumulation of color misregistrations in the output image. In the apparatus, a photosensitive drum motor and a transfer drum motor are driven by motors exclusively provided thereto. The apparatus includes a photosensitive drum motor controller and a transfer drum motor controller respectively provided for speed-controlling the photosensitive drum motor and the transfer drum motor. By these motor controllers, a phase difference between a frequency generator signal from the motor and a phase reference signal is checked. Even if the phase difference exceeds a predetermined range of phase, the motor controller controls the motor so that the phase difference quickly falls within the predetermined range of phase.
