摘要： 16,770. Patterson, J. M. July 22. Feeding sheets.-In a machine for wrapping-up blocks of butter &c., the wrappers 38, Fig. 5, are stored in a removable tray 31 which has adjustable walls 32. The tray slides on vertical guide-rods 20, Figs. 1 and 5, and is pressed upwards by a rod 28 connected to a weighted lever 29. An adjusting- bar 27, locked by a nut 26, allows alteration of the position at which the rod 28 supports the tray. The wrappers are drawn off by a roughened roller 80 reciprocated by a weighted rod 78 adjustably hinged to a rocking- lever 59 adapted to be driven by a notched reciprocating bar 55. The lever 59 may be lowered to engage with the notch in the bar by means of toggle-mechanism operated by a hand-lever 68. The roller 80 is provided with a ball clutch which prevents it from rotating when feeding a wrapper. A triangular piercer 41 prevents he withdrawal of more than one wrapper at a time. The wrapper removed from the pile is carried below guides 110, Fig. 1, on a table 97 by a vertically-adjustable roller 93 co-acting with two small rollers 99 pressed upwards by springs. A guide 104, suspended from the bearings of the roller 93, and two other guides 103, 106 ensure the correct passage of the wrapper through the rollers.

The reversing- valve has duplicate ports 48, and is linked to actuating-mechanism 61 controlling the exhaust valves 54.

Fig. 5 shows the detail of the bracket 28 holding the angle-bar 29, one side of which is serrated and held by a serrated locking-piece 33 and fixing-screw 36. This construction allows fine adjustment and rigid connexion. Fig. 6 shows a spring buffer 39 clamped on the bar 2 to prevent shock, a bracket 46, also adjustable by means of a serrated clamping-plate 47, being mounted below it.
