    • A method providing channel quality indicator (CQI) feedback from subscriber stations (SSs) to a base station (BS) may include a combination of a thresholding scheme and a best-M scheme. Another method providing CQI feedback may include providing multiple feedback channels, with SSs randomly allocating CQI values among the multiple feedback channels. The BS may choose a prevailing CQI message when channel contention occurs. Another method of providing CQI feedback may include SSs transmitting to the BS numbers of their CQI values that exceed a CQI threshold. Based on these numbers, the BS may determine how many CQI values each SS may send, and on which channels. The SSs may send these CQI values according to instructions from the BS.

    • Machine-readable media, methods, apparatus and system for allocating power in a MU-MIMO communicating system are described. In some embodiments, an apparatus of a base station in the MU-MIMO communication system may comprise: a power calculating logic to calculate a power for each user of a plurality of users communicating with the base station in the MU-MIMO system, based upon an average power and a power increment. The power calculating logic may further comprise an average power logic to calculate the average power among the plurality of users based upon a total power for the base station to communicate with the plurality of users, and a power increment logic to determine the power increment for the each user based upon at least one of a fairness algorithm and a throughput algorithm, and wherein different users of the plurality of users having different long-term signal to interference plus noise ratios (SINRs) are calculated with different powers. The apparatus may further comprise a power allocating logic to allocate the power to the each user.

    • Methods and apparatuses for reducing an amount of bandwidth required for feedback to a transmitter station in a closed-loop multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) system are described herein. The methods may include initially measuring at a receiver station channel qualities associated with receiving signals from a transmitter station for a first and a second spatial channel, the transmitter and receiver stations employing a closed-loop MIMO system. The receiver station may then determine a first and a second channel quality indicator (CQI) based on the measured channel qualities and may then transmit to the transmitter station the first and the second CQI to directly and indirectly identify a first and a second modulation coding scheme (MCS) entry among a plurality of ordered MCS entries, respectively. The second MCS entry being one of a selected subset of lower ordered MCS entries relative to the first MCS entry. The transmitter station may selectively use the first and the second identified MCS to transmit signals to the receiver station over the first and the second spatial channel, respectively.
