    • An audio signal encoding method and apparatus for efficiently encoding an audio signal in an interval having many birth sinusoids and enabling tracking of sinusoidal signals in the next interval, and a computer readable recording medium having embodied thereon a computer program for executing the audio signal encoding method are provided. According to the method and apparatus, by applying transform coding instead of parametric coding to a frame having many birth sinusoids, the sinusoids are encoded, thereby reducing the number of bits required for the encoding and enabling efficient coding. Also, when transform coding is applied to a frame of a predetermined interval, an inverse transform of the transform coding is applied to the encoded data in order to decode the data, and then sinusoids are extracted from the decoded data, thereby enabling tracking of sinusoids of the next frame.

    • A magnetic recording method is provided where ternary data is recorded on a magnetic recording medium by forming a first area that corresponds to a first value of the data and in which a first magnetization state is continued at least during the minimum write width. A second area that corresponds to a second value of the data in which a second magnetization state is oppositely magnetized as compared with the first magnetization state is continued at least during the minimum write width. A third area that corresponds to a third value of the data in which the magnetic intensity detected by the read head corresponds to a “0.” Accordingly, the ternary data can be recorded using the characteristic that a signal having a width narrower than the detection width of the read head is not detected by the read head.

    • An optical pickup includes a light source emitting a laser beam and an optical path changing unit altering a traveling path of an incident beam. An objective lens, disposed on an optical path between the optical path changing unit and an optical disk, focuses the incident beam from the light source to form a light spot on the optical disk of the objective lens. The objective lens includes a first transmitting portion divergently transmitting an incident beam, where the first transmitting portion is at a relatively near-axis region from an optical axis of the objective lens. A first reflecting portion condenses and reflects the incident beam from the first transmitting portion, where the first reflecting portion is formed around the second transmitting portion. A second reflecting portion condenses and reflects the incident beam from the first reflecting portion towards the second transmitting portion, where the second reflecting portion is formed around the first transmitting portion.

The spindle motor includes a shaft, a stator and a rotator coupled to an outer circumference of the shaft, and a height adjustment member detachably installed on the rotator and adjusting the height of the rotator when the number of data storage disks mounted on the spindle motor is changed. The spindle motor further includes a plurality of spacers mounted around outer circumferences of the height adjustment member and the rotator in order to maintain a distance between adjacent disks, a clamp disposed over the height adjustment member and fixing the disks and the spacers, and a clamping screw coupled to an upper end portion of the spindle motor and fixing the height adjustment member and the clamp. Accordingly, since the height of the rotator can be adjusted using the height adjustment member, the number of disks mounted on the rotator can be changed.
