    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric machine and a method for practically limiting a short circuit current so as to prevent thermal damage by the short circuit current in the electric machine. SOLUTION: The electric machine is composed of a rotor structural component, and a stator structural component adjacent to the rotor structural component, when arranging winding in a plurality of teeth of the stator structural component. A coil is wound so that currents flowing through at least a pair of coils flow in the same direction in the same slot, and another coil is wound so as to offset magnetic coupling in another phase so that a current flowing through the coil induces mutual impedances upon a short circuit, and the total impedance is increased. Consequently, the increase of the short circuit current upon the short circuit is prevented, and the redundancy is maintained between different phases so as to attain a construction in which the short circuit in one phase does not affect the other phases.
