摘要： A method operates, in at least one network control mode of operation (preferably NC2), for determining in a MS if a cell to which the MS is currently assigned has a first type of broadcast control channel (the PBCCH) and, if the cell does have the first type of broadcast control channel, for sending a PACKET MEASUREMENT REPORT message to the network for reporting on neighbour cells identified in a list received from the PBCCH. If the cell does not have the PBCCH, the method instead sends a PACKET MEASUREMENT REPORT message to the network for reporting on neighbour cells identified in a list received from a second type of broadcast control channel (BCCH). The type of list used by the MS is one of implicitly specified by the PACKET MEASUREMENT REPORT message, or is explicitly specified by the PACKET MEASUREMENT REPORT message.

The information of use in the mobile changing to the neighboring cell is communicated to the RAN in an acknowledgment message uplinked on a packet access control channel.

Also included is a new alert signal within an existing message to the mobile device during the circuit switched connection release phase, before completion of the circuit switched connection release phase, in order to inform the mobile device that the converting step will occur after release of the circuit switched connection.

摘要： A method, system, and mobile station are presented for informing a packet control unit (PCU) whether the dual transfer mode (DTM) capable mobile station has an ongoing circuit switched connection and is in dedicated mode. The packet control unit will typically be located at a base station. Upon entering the dedicated mode, the mobile station alerts the PCU of entry into the dedicated mode, using a mobility management (MM) procedure. This mobility management procedure is utilized for alerting the PCU about the dedicated mode, regardless of physical movement of the mobile station such as movement from one cell to another.
