    • A compensated switched capacitor circuit comprises a switched capacitor circuit and a compensation circuit. The compensation circuit generates a reference current that varies under closed loop control to maintain a targeted slew rate for charging a reference capacitor that is determined by the input clock frequency. The switched capacitor circuit’s output amplifier is configured such that its output current varies in proportion to the reference current. Thus, by configuring the reference capacitor to track the effective capacitance of the switched capacitor circuit, the settling time of the switched capacitor circuit may be made relatively insensitive to the value of and changes in the effective capacitance over a range of clock frequencies. The compensation circuit may include a clock reconditioning circuit that the switched capacitor circuit is clocked at a desired duty cycle.

    • A wireless communication network is configured to provide distributed diversity transmissions, wherein different diversity-coded versions of the same information signal are transmitted from each of two or more network sectors. The diversity-coded versions of the information signal are based on space-time or space-frequency codes, and the information signal may comprise a dedicated channel signal targeted to an individual user or a broadcast signal targeted to one or more users. Thus, spaced-apart network transmitters, which may be located at the same cell site, or at different cell sites, are configured to transmit diversity-coded versions of a given information signal and, in this manner, the advantages of space-time and/or space frequency transmission coding may be applied across multiple sectors of a communication network. Such transmissions may be used to improve soft and softer handoff reception of dedicated channel signals, and to improve reception of Broadcast-Multicast Services (BCMCS) signals, or the like.

    • A wireless communication network includes radio base stations of a first type that support dedicated channel packet data service and radio base stations of a second type that additionally support shared channel packet data service. A base station controller evaluates pilot signal strength reports to determine whether to serve a given mobile station on a shared packet data channel or on a dedicated packet data channel. Evaluation may comprise determining whether any pilot signals in the report correspond to radio base stations of the second type. If so, and if one or more service criteria are met, the controller serves the mobile station on a shared packet data channel, and otherwise serves it on a dedicated packet data channel. The controller may control or otherwise limit the mobile station's active set based on identifying pilot signals in the report that correspond to radio base stations of the second type.

    • Call setup latency for a packet data call dormant reactivation in a cdma2000 wireless communication network is reduced by bypassing service negotiation and/or R LP Sync exchange procedures using values stored at the base station controller B SC. Previously negotiated parameters may be used to bypass service negotiation. A non-zero round trip time RTT value, calculated by a previously performed RLP Sync exchange, is stored at the BSC, and transmitted to the mobile station MS upo n dormant reactivation. The MS uses the RTT to calculate a RLP REXMIT_TIMER value, bypassing a RLP Sync exchange with the BSC. The service configuration parameters and non-zero RTT may be stored at the BSC in the RLP BLOB of a service configuration record SCR, which may be transmitted to the MS in a service connect message SCM. The SCR may store multiple records, each containing negotiated service configuration parameters and/or a non-zero RTT associated with a service instance, selected by a service reference identifier SRID transmitted by the MS.

    • A method and apparatus provide network-based flow control for mobile station having data connections to the network. In an exemplary embodiment, a Packet Control Function (PCF) in a Radio Access Network (RAN) requests that a Packet Data Serving Node (PDSN) in a Packet Core Network (PCN) turn flow control on and off as needed for mobile station data connections. That is, if the PCF receives data from the PDSN for delivery to a mobile station that the PCF determines to be unavailable, the PCF requests that data transfers from the PDSN be suspended for that mobile station. Such suspension avoids needless continued transfer of undeliverable data to the PCF. The PCF monitors or otherwise determines whether a flow-controlled mobile station has become available again and, if so, notifies the PDSN so that it can lift the suspension and resume data transfers as needed.
