摘要： The disclosure describes refinery processes and process units for suppressing the precipitation and deposition of heavy polynuclear aromatic (HPNA) compounds in a process unit of a refinery, by combining the effluent from a hydrocracking unit with an aromatic solvent stream. Certain costly HPNA treatment processes can be eliminated, downtime can be reduced, and overall distillate yield can be increased by suppressing HPNA precipitation. The aromatic bottoms-which are suitable solvents for this purpose-of an aromatic recovery complex can be used in certain embodiments to dissolve HPNAs and suppress HPNA precipitation.

摘要： A process for recovering sulfur from a sour gas is provided. The process includes the steps of: providing the sour gas to a membrane separation unit having a carbon dioxide-selective membrane that comprises a perfluoropolymer, wherein the sour gas comprises carbon dioxide and at least 1 mol % hydrogen sulfide; separating the sour gas using the carbon dioxide-selective membrane in the membrane separation stage to obtain hydrogen sulfide-enriched gas and hydrogen sulfide-stripped gas, wherein the hydrogen sulfide-enriched gas has a hydrogen sulfide concentration of at least 20 mol %, and wherein the hydrogen sulfide-stripped gas comprises carbon dioxide; and processing the hydrogen sulfide-enriched gas in a sulfur recovery unit to obtain sulfur.

摘要： Systems and methods for moving a tubular string within a subterranean well include a downhole assembly. The downhole assembly includes a torque disconnecting member and a shock generating member. During normal drilling activities, both components are inactive. When a stuck pipe event occurs, first the torque disconnecting member is activated while the shock generating member is still inactive. Once the torque disconnecting member is activated, then the shock generating member is activated. A laterally-protruding shock pad of the activated shock generating member produces shocks against the proximate side of a wellbore wall while the shock generating member is rotating. Systems and methods for moving a tubular string within a subterranean well include a fishing assembly. The fishing assembly includes a fishing member, a swivel member, and an imbalanced member. The imbalanced member has a cross-sectional center of gravity off-centered relative to the longitudinal axis to produce shocks against the proximate side of the wellbore wall while the imbalanced member is rotating.

摘要： Embodiments of systems and methods for predicting when a dry oil producing well is expected to transition to a wet oil producing well, the system configured to generate predictions from multiple databases of information. A first database is designed to store real time data about an active producing well and a second database can be a historical production information database, such as an Online Transactions Processing (OLTP) database. The data from both databases can be normalized, compared, and correlated to create a predictive model that accurately predicts when a particular well is expected to transition from a dry oil producing well to a wet oil producing well. The system and method can be configured to use many different techniques including an autoregressive integrated moving average equation to create a predictive model based off the normalized data from the multiple databases.

摘要： Reservoir simulation for simulation models which include a large edge aquifer region is provided with a speed up in processing reducing computer processing time. Connected aquifer grid cells in a vertical column are amalgamated to reduce the total number of active cells in the solution phase. The fine grid property data is maintained for computing distributed 3D graph, and connection factors (transmissibilities), as well as pore volume and compressibility calculation of coarsened aquifer cells during nonlinear solution phase. Since the work load in the solution phase is proportional to the total number of active cells, a significant speedup in simulation time is provided. The aquifer fine grid pressures are computed using vertical equilibrium treatment of hydraulic potential inside an amalgamated aquifer coarse cell.

摘要： A measure of structural growth of subsurface geological formations layers or intervals is obtained to investigate and analyze layer structure development history. The measure or indication can be considered a structural growth index (SGI) and is used to evaluate for possible presence of hydrocarbons in the layers or strata in a structure of concern. The structural growth measure or index for a given geologic interval of interest is defined as the ratio of the layer thickness difference measured at two selected locations, one at a structural high and the other at a structural low of layer or interval, over the larger number of the paired-thickness measurements. The structural growth measure is determined for a series of sequentially layered geologic formations of interest and displays of determined measures are formed as functions of geologic time for the formations. Based on the structural growth measure, the geologic growth history of the given oil field structure is revealed quantitatively.
