    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inorganic fiber having excellent solubility in an organism and having such heat resistance that it can be used stably even at 1,200°C.
      SOLUTION: The inorganic fiber contains 60-74.9 wt.% of SiO
      2 , 25-39.9 wt.% of CaO, ≤0.02 wt.% of Na
      2 O, ≤0.05 wt.% of K
      2 O, ≤0.15 wt.% of Fe
      2 O
      3 and ≤0.10 wt.% of TiO
      2 . By reducing the contents of impurities of Na
      2 O, K
      2 O, TiO
      2 and Fe
      2 O
      3 , the precipitation of cristobalite crystal is suppressed, and further the growth of calcium silicate, which precipitates at a temperature lower than the precipitation temperature of cristobalite, is suppressed. This improves heat resistance and reduces influence on health.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the spalling resistance, maintain stable heat insulating properties and prevent surface peeling by composing the inner layer of inorganic fibers in which most thereof are oriented in the thickness direction of a molded product and the outer layer of inorganic fibers, a binder and, as necessary, a refractory powder and further composing the binder of an inorganic binder and, as necessary, an organic binder.
      SOLUTION: Alumina silica fibers and alumina fibers can preferably be used as inorganic fibers. When the inner layer is composed of an inorganic fiber blanket, a laminate of the alumina silica fibers or alumina fibers subjected to needling or sewed with a yarn of inorganic continuous filaments is preferred. A refractory powder is, e.g. a powder of alumina or mullite. For example, a starch and an acrylic latex are preferred as an organic binder. A silica sol and an alumina sol are preferred as an inorganic binder. The binder with a low content of an alkali improves the heat resistance.
