    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simplified method for joining a tubular component.
      SOLUTION: Two tubular components 10, 14 are provided with integral end caps 11, 15. The end caps 11, 15 are placed in abutting relationship and are held together under pressure while the tubular component 10 is rotated. A pressure is applied, thereby causing frictional heating. A friction welded joint 18 is produced at the interface between the two end caps 11, 15. On completion of the welding process, a machining tool is then passed through the internal bore (12 or 16) of either of the tubular components. The machining tool cuts through the joined end caps 11, 15 to produce a single uniform bore through the joined components. In a further post processing operation, the extruded flash 20 is removed from the outer surfaces 13, 17.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rolling bearing capable of improving the effect to viscous coupling between a cage and an inner race by the centrifugal effect. SOLUTION: This rolling bearing is provided with the inner race 3, an outer race 2, and arrangement of rolling elements 4 positioned between the two races 2 and 3 and arranged in the bearing cage 5. An inner face of the bearing cage 5 is guided on the inner race 3 so as to limit eccentric motion of the cage 5 in the bearing 1, and a reservoir 9 formed between a pair of gates 6a and 7b provided in the cage 5 in the peripheral direction is also provided. An outer face of the inner race 3 includes a raised land 3d coming into contact with oil in the reservoir 9. Consequently, depth in the radial direction of each of the gates 6b, 7b is larger than the size of the maximum clearance in the radial direction between the land 3d and the cage 5 in order to control relative speed between the cage 5 and the inner race 3 and maintain the control and contact between the land 3d and the oil while the cage 5 moves eccentrically.
