摘要： A method and system are presented for use in recording/reading data from an array of data units within a three-dimensional storage medium. Exciting radiation is provided in the form of first and second light beams of first and second different wavelengths, respectively. The first and second light beams are concurrently directed and focusing onto desirably distanced from each other sites in the medium and excited light of a third wavelength coming from the excited site is collected to form and excited light beam to be directed towards a detector assembly, while correcting for chromatic and spherical aberrations of the light focusing and collection. This focusing/collection is sequentially repeated for successive sites in the medium with varying depth of focus

摘要： An optical system is presented for use in at least one of data reading and recording processes in an optical data carrier. The system comprises a light source system; one or more light directing arrangements; and a detection system. The light source system is configured and operable for generating at least one of recording and reading light beams to illuminate the carrier from a first side so as to record data within said carrier and/or read the recorded data. The one or more light directing arrangements is/are configured for directing said recording and/or reading light beams towards said optical data carrier. The detection system comprises a first detector unit configured and operable for tracking a trajectory of the recording or reading light beam while scanning the carrier, by detecting a light component coming from said first side of the optical data carrier while being recorded or read, and generating data indicative thereof; and a second detector unit having a high bandwidth collection and configured and operable for receiving a light response signal coming from the opposite second side of said carrier, and generating data indicative thereof.

摘要： A method and system are presented for use in at least reading data in a three-dimensional optical data carrier having at least one reference layer and at least one data layer. A recording/reading beam and a reference beam are focused onto the optical carrier through a common optical element creating two focal spots in different optical planes. Movement of at least said optical element is controlled such that the focal spot of said reading/recording beam tracks a data track in an addressed data layer, said controlling comprising identifying a change in an error signal from the reference layer during the reference beam tracking the reference layer, thereby adjusting a tracking target for control of the movement of the reference beam.

摘要： A recording medium is presented for use in an optical information carrier. The recording medium comprises an organic or metallo-organic substance having a first fluorescent compound convertible into a second fluorescent compound. The fluorescence profiles of the first and second compounds have fluorescence peaks at different wavelengths. This enables data recording in the medium by converting at least a part of the first compound within spaced-apart selected regions of the substance into the second compound, to thereby create a data pattern in the form of an array of the spaced-apart recorded regions, and enables data reproducing by detecting spatial variation of fluorescence from the medium.
