    • A coil assembly having a drum core for winding a coil wire. The drum core has a drum portion and a pair of end flanges provided at the opposite ends of the drum portion. The wire is wound on the drum portion. The drum core is encircled by a cylindrical ring core. The drum core and the ring core are supported by a base plate which has a recess for receiving end portions of the drum core and the ring core for appropriately locating the drum core and the ring core during assembling. The ring core is formed with cutouts leaving projecting edges at the end adjacent to the base plate. The base plate is provided with terminals at the edge portions adjacent to the cutouts of the ring core. End portions of the coil wire are passed through the cutouts and connected with the terminals.

    • A bill validator including a vertically extending main body having a bill insertion slit, bill conveying passage, and a bill discrimination device provided along the bill conveying passage, and a bill accumulating box detachably mounted on the main body. The main body can be turned upside down, along with the bill insertion slit, bill conveying passage and bill discrimination device configured therein. The bill accumulating box is selectably mounted on the main body in a normal state or in an upside down state such that the vertical position of the bill accumulating box will not be changed when the main body is turned upside down. Thus, the same bill validator may be used as a type with the bill insertion slit provided at the upper portion or at the lower portion thereof, respectively, as desired for use with different vending machine configurations.

    • A coin separator includes first and second coin passages separated and defined in part by a plate having an elongated hole disposed lengthwise in the downward direction of coin movement. The diameter of the elongated hole is less than large diameter coins and greater than smaller diameter coins which are to be sorted. The plate is attachable to and detachable from the casing for cleaning and repair purposes, and a lower portion of the elongated hole has arcuate cutouts on both sides of a lower portion of the plate which projects upwardly in opposite relationship to downward coin movement. The peripheries of the arcuate cutouts and the upwardly projecting plate portion are tapered upwardly in cross-section which in conjunction with a tongue having a lower end movable into and out of the elongated hole assure that bent and/or deflected coins of small diameter pass through the appropriate coin passage.

    • A coin dispensing apparatus capable of selectively dispensing a coin of a predetermined denomination from among coins of various denominations stored in a coin tube assembly. The coin tube assembly is detachably mounted in a housing. At portion to the bottom of the tube assembly are provided both pay-out slide and coin base, whereby coins in the tube assembly are prevented from dropping out when the tube assembly is detached. Locking parts which are provided at the tube assembly and the housing are engaged with each other, in position. A coin level detector is disposed in the housing so that the detector can be set in position when the tube assembly is attached to the housing. The detector detects when the number of coins is reduced to a predetermined value.

    • A ring oscillator in a receiver in a multimedia network is adjusted to compensate for factors that may decrease its accuracy over time using a link training signal from a transmitter device in the network. An incoming signal having a known frequency is received at a receiver or sink device from a transmitter, the signal may be a link training signal used for configuring a link between the two devices. In the receiver, an internally generated clock signal is created, the signal having an internal frequency. The incoming signal and the internally generated clock signal are input into a frequency detector which outputs frequency comparison-based data. The internal frequency is based on the comparison-based data such that it is adjusted to be closer to the known frequency of the incoming signal.
