    • A vehicular control device includes a trim member having a plurality of graphics for identifying a plurality of manual activation regions and a printed circuit board having a plurality of proximity sensors. Each of the plurality of proximity sensors generates a respective electromagnetic field within a respective manual activation region and is responsive to an object disposed in the respective manual activation region. The printed circuit board is semi-translucent and includes a plurality of illumination elements for illuminating light away from the printed circuit board. A back cover member is adaptable to the trim member for encasing the printed circuit board therebetween. A sealing member is disposed between the trim member and the back cover member. The illuminating light from the plurality of illumination elements is reflected toward the printed circuit board. The printed circuit board receives the illuminating light and diffuses the illuminating light therethrough for backlighting the plurality of graphics.

    • Apparatus for monitoring a parameter associated with a structural component comprises a module (1) which is attachable to the structural component and which is associated with a sensor (2) for making measurements of said parameter. The module incorporates a power supply (7) for powering the apparatus; a memory (4) for storing data from the sensor, and a processor (3) to process measurement signals from the sensor (2) and to store data in said memory (4). A display (5) for displaying measurements made by the sensor (2) may also be provided. The processor may make use of an algorithm such as a rainflow counting algorithm to reduce data stored. For energy saving, the sensor (2) is only powered on as required to take a measurement. The sensor (3) is interfaced to the processor through a signal processing subsystem (6) consisting of an amplifier and A to D converter, and each is turned on and off as required to power the sensor (2) for measuring. A sensor such as a tilt-switch (8) may also be used to control powering of the sensor (2). A communication link allows downloading of data from the memory, and recharging of the battery (7). Alternatively, the memory (4) and battery (7) are incorporated in a unit which is removable from the apparatus so that the data in the memory can be processed elsewhere.

    • A panel assembly includes a housing defining first and second troughs. Each trough has an arcuate surface. A panel is pivotally attached to the housing. The panel is moveable between first and second positions. The panel includes first and second protrusions. The first protrusion extends in the first trough adjacent the arcuate surface of the first trough. The second protrusion extends in the second trough adjacent the arcuate surface of the second trough. Movement of the panel between the first and second positions moves the first protrusion over the arcuate surface of the first trough, and moves the second protrusion over the arcuate surface of the second trough.

    • An automotive center stack panel assembly is provided comprising an instrument panel face plate having an outer face plate surface and an internal face plate surface. A display window region is formed into the instrument panel face plate and has a curved internal window surface. A flat flex circuit assembly is in direct contact with the curved internal window surface. The flat flex circuit assembly includes a plurality of field effect sensors. A clamp plate backer is mounted to the internal face plate surface. A soft durometer backer is positioned between the clamp plate backer and the flat flex circuit assembly. the clamp plate backer compresses the soft durometer backer such that the soft durometer backer presses the field effect sensors into direct contact with the curved internal window surface without adhesives.
