    • PURPOSE:To provide a dye laser having excellent conversion efficiency and stability and high durability, by using a dye solution containing a laser active dye consisting of a novel methine dye containing 5-6-membered heterocyclic group as well as benzo-pyrylium nucleus in the molecule. CONSTITUTION:The objective laser is composed of a dye solution for laser, its container and a pumping energy source (e.g. nitrogen laser) connected to said container. The dye solution contains a compound of formula I [n is 0 or 1; m is 0-3; L and L are (substituted) methine; R is (substituted) alkyl, etc.; R -R are H, halogen, (substituted) alkyl, etc.; Z is atomic group necessary for forming a 5-6-membered ring; X is anion; r is 1 or 2] (e.g. the compound of formula II). The compound of formula I can be produced e.g. by condensing a heterocyclic quaternary salt derivative containing active methyl group with a 2H-chromene-2-thione derivative according to the reaction formula.

    • PURPOSE:To make it possible to effect application of the method under consideration to the production of various photosensitive materials, while highly increasing spectroscopy and sensitivity and reducing the establishment of fog, by containing a special merocyanine dye in a photographic emulsion. CONSTITUTION:A sensitizing dyestuff prepared according to Formula [wherein: 7 stands for atomic groups necessary for forming a complex ring nucleus of molecular number of 5 and 6; X stands for O and S; R1 stands for H, alkyl and aryl; R2 stands for a (substituted) aliphatic radical; R3 stands for a (substituted) aliphatic radical having a thiether bond; m and n stand for 1 and 2] is dissolved in an organic solvent which can be mixed with water at desired ratio, and the resultant solution is added to an emulsion of silver halide after chemically aging. As a result, it is possible to produce a photographic emulsion which has less reduction in sensitivity after the photosensitive material has been aged and which has its latent image stable even after exposure. Satisfactory photographic property can be exhibited even after the developing treatment at a higher temperature than 30 deg.C, and no contamination with the dyestuff takes place after the developing treatment.
