    • The invention relates to a lock device comprising a key and a lock cylinder, said lock cylinder comprising a fixed cylinder housing and a cylinder core mounted to rotate therein. The key shaft (10.3) has an edge profile and may be inserted in a key way of the cylinder core in which displaceable tumblers (41, 42) are located transverse to the above. The key shaft (10.3) has profiled recesses running in the longitudinal direction, comprising a pair of follow points for each tumbler (41, 42) for coding the key, whilst the tumbler (41, 42) has a pair of counter follow points which are the basis of the corresponding counter coding. According to this invention, a space-saving design of the lock device may be achieved with a large range of variation for the coding wherein both follow points are on the key shaft (10.3) in the form of recesses, arranged on opposing lateral surfaces to an edge (57.2; 57.3) of the edge profile of the key shaft (10.3). A web (22; 23) is thus generated in the corner region of the edge profile between both recesses. Said web functions a code web (22; 23), as the opposing web edges serve for the coding. The corresponding tumblers (41, 42) have a cut-out, which in use enclose the code web (22; 23) on opposing web edges. The lateral limits of the cut-out form the counter follow points in the tumblers (41, 42).

    • A reciprocating combinating tumbler for a lock plug assembly which includes a flat body portion and a bent-over (or enlarged) end portion is provided for use with a lock plug barrel having a generally cylindrical outer periphery, a longitudinal axis, a keyway slot formed substantially along the longitudinal axis, and a plurality of spaced-apart cavities formed substantially perpendicular to the keyway slot. In use, the tumbler reciprocates between an extended position wherein the bent-over end portion is spaced radially outwardly of the outer periphery of the lock plug barrel and protrudes into a longitudinal spline formed in the aperture of a housing, and a retracted position wherein the bent-over end portion is spaced radially inwardly of the outer periphery of the barrel and does not protrudes into the longitudinal spline. When the tumbler is in the extended position, the bent-over end portion provides resistance to cutting, shearing, and breaking by supplying additional surface contact between the bent-over end portion of the tumbler and the longitudinal spline of the aperture thereby making it more difficult to force the tumbler through the plastic material which surrounds the longitudinal spline. The tumbler is movable into the retracted position when the keyway slot of the barrel and the opening of the flat body portion is received by a properly-fitting key.

    • A lock with a keyed removable plug having a substantially cylindrical body, and a plurality of tumblers disposed within the body and movable between a first position retracted within the cylindrical body of the plug and a second position with one end extending from the body. A retaining tab extends radially from the plug body at an angle from the radial orientation of the tumblers. A shell has a substantially cylindrical opening therein for removably receiving the plug in a first shell end. The shell further includes an annular shoulder spaced from the first shell end and engageable by the plug retaining tab and a retaining one of the tumblers when in its second position. Tumbler grooves extend axially along the sides of the shell opening from the first shell end to a groove end short of the shoulder, and a release groove extends axially along the shell opening from the first shell end to the shoulder to define an opening in the shoulder. Engagement of either the retaining tab or the retaining tumbler with the annular shoulder retains the plug in the shell. An operating key engages the tumblers to orient all but the retaining tumbler in the first position to permit pivoting of the plug within the shell with at least one of the retaining tab and the retaining tumbler aligned with the shell shoulder to retain the plug in the shell. A removing key engages the tumblers to orient all of the tumblers in the first position to permit pivoting of the plug within the shell to a removal position in which the retaining tab is aligned with the release groove.

    • The invention relates to disc cylinder lock-key-combination, including a cylinder housing (1), and inside thereof, a turnable inner cylinder (2), which encloses a set of discs comprising a number of locking discs (3,4) provided with peripheral notches (8) and separated from one another by means of intermediate discs (5), and a locking bar (10), which in the locked position of the lock is located partly in a groove in the cylinder housing and partly in a slot (9) in the inner cylinder thereby preventing the inner cylinder to be turned with regard to the cylinder housing. The locking discs (3,4) are turnable by means of the key (12) of the lock into a position, in which the peripheral notches (8) form a uniform channel at the position of said slot (9) of the inner cylinder, into which channel the locking bar (10) can enter from the groove of the cylinder housing thereby releasing the inner cylinder to turn with regard to the cylinder housing. In accordance with the invention a guiding element (18), cooperating with the key (12) and extending at least substantially across the axial length of the set of discs, is arranged in the keyway formed jointly by the key openings (6,7) of the discs (3,4,5) in the set of discs. The lock includes further at least one member (3,23) turning continuously with the key when the key is turned in the lock, to which member the guiding element (18) is supported and from which the guiding element (18) is arranged to receive its guidance.

    • A cylinder lock with a removable plug incorporates a series of spring biased combinating disc tumblers which cooperate with a first key in normal lock operation. An additional, unbiased control tumbler at the end of the plug cooperates with a retention flange associated with the cylinder to retain the plug against removal from the cylinder while permitting rotation of the plug in the cylinder. The control tumbler includes a notch for receipt of the first key as well as a second, plug removal key. The first key acts against one edge of the notch to displace the control tumbler into a position which ensures that the tumbler will remain engaged with the plug retention flange regardless of the orientation of the plug. The second key includes special bitting adapted to engage a separate second edge of the notch associated with the control tumbler to translate the control tumbler such that when the plug is rotated appropriately, the control tumbler is oriented to slide through an axial or longitudinal groove in the cylinder thus permitting removal of the plug from the cylinder.

    • A cylinder lock with a shell defining a plug cavity, a plurality of locking shell tumblerways, and a control shell tumblerway. A plug is rotatable within the plug cavity and defines a plurality of locking plug tumblerways alignable with the locking shell tumblerways, a control plug tumblerway alignable with the control shell tumblerway and a keyway for receiving keys. Positioned within each of the locking plug tumblerways is a locking tumbler that is biased into an active position wherein it projects into one of the locking shell tumblerways and movable into an inactive position out of the tumblerway by a proper key in the keyway. The locking tumblers prevent rotation of the plug when in their active positions and allow rotation thereof when in their inactive positions. Retained by the control plug tumblerway is a control tumbler biased in a latched position and movable into a release position by a control key in the keyway. Also defined by the shell is an arcuate groove that receives ends of the control tumbler so as to accommodate rotational movement of the plug while preventing axial movement thereof. After use of a proper key to rotate the plug from a locked position to an open position, an end of the control tumbler can be forced into the control shell tumblerway by a control key in the keyway. Entry of the control tumbler into the control shell tumblerway eliminates axial interference between the control tumbler and the groove.

    • A duplex lock codable by a master key and releasable by a duplex key and comprising a first fixed hollow cylindrical body in which a second cylindrical body is rotatably mounted. An axially shiftable slider is firmly secured to the second cylindrical body for locking it relative to the first cylindrical body by insertion in a cavity provided at the bottom of the first cylindrical body. When the slider is withdrawn, the two cylindrical bodies are released. The slider is provided with a plurality of axially spaced recesses which by axial movement of the slider can be brought into alignment with a plurality of apertures in the rotatable cylindrical body. Each of the apertures accommodates a U-shaped rocker lever having a front U-shaped end facing the slider and a rear end attached to a helical spring tending to pull the rocker lever toward an abutment surface in the interior of the rotatable cylindrical body. When the master key is inserted in the rotatable cylindrical body, the legs formed by the U-shaped ends of the rocker levers are lifted and swung into the recesses in the slider and when the duplex key is inserted axially in the rotatable cylindrical body adjacent the master key, the legs of the rocker levers are lifted and swung by the same amount in the opposite direction, resulting in centering of the slider and permitting it to be withdrawn axially to open the lock.
