    • PURPOSE:To prevent a transfer roller which is used in a sintering furnace for tile bodies, from being broken and to make it possible to replace the roller with new one without lowering the inside temperature of a furnace, by coating the outer periphery of a core metal formed of a heat-resistant steel pipe, with a silica alumina group fiber layer. CONSTITUTION:A transfer roller 11 for a sintering zone is formed such that the outer peripheral surface 12a of a core metal 12 formed of a heat-resistant steel pipe core, excepting both end parts thereof, is coated with a fiber layer 13 which is made of silica alumina group fibers having a diameter of about 2-3mum and a length of 40-250mm and made entangled together, and which have a bulk ratio of about 60-200kg/m and a heat conductivity of about 0.18 kcal/mh deg. C at a temperature of about 1,000 deg.C. This roller 11 is jouranlled to a link plate 21a in an endless link chain 21 by means of a roller holding means 25. With this arrangement, a rise in the temperature of the core metal 12 is restrained by the fiber layer 13, and therefore, it is possible to eliminate the necessity of cooling within a predetermined dwelling time. Further, due to the use of the heat-resistant steel, it is possible to prevent the roller from being broken.

    • PURPOSE:To heat uniformly an object to be heated with good thermal efficiency by projecting hearth rolls in a roll hearth type heating furnace like a cantilever from both side walls of a furnace body into the furnace and riding the trays across both rolls. CONSTITUTION:Rolls 5L, 5R are inserted at a specified space through both side walls 1L, 1R of a heating furnace from both sides and are attached freely rotatably by means of bearings 4L, 4R provided to supporting bases 3L, 3R at the outside of the furnace. A tray 11 which is combined with a heat resistant steel material like a grating into the state of avoiding shutting off of heat is placed on the top ends of said rolls across the same by means of notches 12L, 12R provided at both ends. A material 10 to be heated, such as a billet, is placed on the tray 11 and while the tray is heated by upper and lower radiant tubes 2, the tray is moved. Since the rolls for supporting the tray are supported by the cantilever type, the material is uniformly heated without the interference of the heating from the bottom surface and since the rolls are short, the loss of the heat dissipating to the outside of the furnace through the rolls is decreased.
