摘要： An improved smoothing layer for use with a thick film dielectric layer, and improved composite thick film dielectric structure is provided. The smoothing layer is a piezoelectric or ferroelectric material that has a reduced amount of defects. The smoothing layer is formed by the addition of surfactant to a sol gel or metal organic solution of organo metallic precursor compounds. The composite thick film dielectric structure comprises a thick film dielectric composition having a PZT smoothing layer thereon, the smoothing layer being made by a process incorporating surfactant. Both the smoothing layer and the composite thick film dielectric structure are for use in electroluminescent displays.

摘要： On a transparent substrate 110, by use of, for instance, vapor deposition, an Al film 120 is formed ((A)-(B)). Subsequently, with a DC-bias applied on a surface of the Al film 120, a first zinc oxide thin film 130 is formed by use of a sputtering method (C). On a surface of the first zinc oxide thin film 130, according to an atmospheric MO-CVD method, a second zinc oxide thin film 140 is formed (D). When the second zinc oxide thin film 140 deposited by use of an MO-CVD method is formed on the first zinc oxide thin film 130 having a-axis orientation, the second zinc oxide thin film 140 becomes to have the a-axis orientation. Since the Al thin film 120, owing to heat during the deposition by use of the MO-CVD method, is absorbed in the first zinc oxide thin film, the transparency is improved. As a result, a sample having a ZnO/ZnO/Al/glass structure becomes high in the transparency as a whole.

The anti-reaction layer (2) on the glass substrate (1) or the levelling layer (2) on the Al.sub.2 O.sub.3 -substrate (1) is made of at least one specific material. An anti-reaction layer or a levelling layer (2) of one of the above-mentioned substances or a combination of several substances, enables a dielectric layer (4) to be provided by means of which a high capacitance value is achieved.

摘要： A new method of constructing a gas panel is described which involves passivation of the outer surface of laminated electrical conductors disposed in parallel on glass plates which form a gas panel, spraying a slurry composed of a finely ground glass frit in a suspension vehicle to cover completely the laminated parallel lines on each glass plate, and firing the assembly in an oven to reflow the glass frit thereby to form a protective glass coating over the laminated parallel lines of each glass plate. The glass plates are formed into a panel by separating them a given distance, placing a sealing material between the glass plates around the periphery thereof, and firing the assembly in an oven to seal the glass plates together with a chamber therebetween which is evacuated and filled with an illuminable gas.
