The amplitude of the AC signal is adjusted during operation of the horn, so as to maintain the gap between the horn and the anvil substantially constant.

摘要： Vibration welded joint structures, methods, and apparatus for thermoplastic members are disclosed. A welded joint structure includes first and second thermoplastic members and an interposed junction piece vibratory welded to the first and second members at respective welding surfaces. At least one of the welding surfaces partially defines an angle, in a plane normal to the interposed junction piece, between an unwelded portion of the first member and an unwelded portion of the second member. The junction piece may include surfaces for forming vibratory welded bonds with the first and second thermoplastic members and a component holder, physically coupled to those surfaces, for enabling the junction piece to hold a further component.

摘要： A method and apparatus for welding members formed of thermoplastic resin material, with high welding strength and small strength variations. A laser welding apparatus 1 brings a first member 2 formed of a transmissive thermoplastic resin that transmits a laser beam into contact with a second member 3 formed of an absorptive thermoplastic resin that absorbs the laser beam, and joins the thermoplastic resin members by melting their contact surfaces 4 with the laser beam. The laser welding apparatus 1 further comprises a laser beam generator 10 for irradiating the contact surfaces with the laser beam shone from the side of the first member 3 so as to melt at least one of the contact surfaces of the first member and the second member. The apparatus also comprises a clamp mechanism 20 for pressing the first member and the second member together, a temperature sensor 31 as an adjusting means for adjusting the pressing force applied to the first member and the second member, and a personal computer 32 for calculating the pressing force based on the output of the temperature sensor. The clamp mechanism is controlled with the calculated pressing force.

摘要： The method of controlling a linear vibration welding apparatus, in accordance with the invention, may comprise the steps of: fastening a first workpiece portion in a fixed position; fastening a second workpiece portion to a reciprocating member; energizing a first single winding magnet with direct current power to create a magnetic field; sensing a location of the reciprocating member with respect to a zero point; and energizing a second magnet when the reciprocating member has crossed the zero point when moving towards the first magnet. The linear vibration welding apparatus in accordance with the invention may comprise: a frame; a flexure array; a first magnet assembly; a second magnet assembly; a digital controller; and direct current amplifiers for powering the magnet assemblies.

摘要： The present invention provides a hot air welding apparatus that provides accurate and repeatable control of the drive wheel speed. To afford very precise control of the speed and the relative rotation of the drive wheels at all times during the welding process, the present invention is provided with a computer control system and two high torque stepper motors, one for each drive wheel. The computer control system allows the speed and position of the drive wheels to be regulated with a very high accuracy. The computer control system allows the drive wheel settings to be adjusted while the seam is being welded and further includes an automatic ramp capability, a repeat mode, and a test strip mode. Further, the computer control system is capable of controlling the temperature of the air used in the welding process. The present invention further provides methods of joining pieces of fabric, films and extruded materials without using traditional sewing techniques and further provides products seamed by such methods.

When sealing a part of web W by engaging hooks 16a, 16b, which directly give a sealing pressure to the web W in order to seal a part of both web N by heating and melting both side surfaces of a double web while pressing the same, the strain amount of the hooks 16a, 16b is measured by a strain gauge 23. and the aforementioned sealing pressure is controlled by the controller 21 so that the waveform of the data, in which the values obtained by converting the aforementioned measured strain amount to pressure are continuously recorded in line with the elapse of time, becomes nearly identical to that of the master data, reflecting on the compressing time by the hooks 16a, 16b, compression timing, and the pressing force of the cylinder 18 for actuation of the hooks, and the adjustment of the drive amount of the drive device for the cross sealing of a pair of sealing jaws 7a, 7b.

摘要： A method and apparatus (84, 94) for controlling an assembly for bonding a cover (22) over the undulating surface of a foam cushion (10) by controlling a ram actuator cylinder (90) to lift a ram (14) to permit placing the foam cushion (10) on a tool (18), lowering the ram (14) to pierce the cushion (10) with a plurality of needles (44), lifting the ram (14) to lift the cushion (10) which is frictionally retained on the needles (44), controlling a heater (38) to heat ambient air and ejecting the hot air from the needles (44) into the cushion (10) to elevate the temperature of the cushion. A pair of plate actuator cylinders (62) are controlled to dispose a compression plate (58) with holes (60) extending therethrough against the backside of the cushion (10) with the needles (44) extending through the holes (60). The ram (14) is lowered to place the undulating surface of the cushion (10) against an adhesive material (82) on the backside of the cover (22) so that heat is transferred from the cushion (10) to melt the adhesive (82). The ram is raised to extract the needles (44) from the cushion (10) as the compression plate (58) is maintained in place to hold the cushion (10) against the cover (22) and the tool (18) and an air cooler (70) is controlled to eject cool air from passages (68) in the compression plate (58) and into the cushion (10) to cure the adhesive (82) and bond the cover (22) to the cushion (10).
