摘要： A method is described reducing remaining tensions and corrosion resistance in welded joints by explosion finishing thereof, comprising disposing over the axis of the weld seam an explosive charge in the form of a periodic curve, the axis of which is substantially co-extensive with that of the weld seam with the amplitude thereof extending from one side of said seam to the other, and then detonating said explosive charge. In one embodiment an auxiliary explosure charge is disposed substantially linearly over the axis of the weld seam to assure complete detonation of the charge disposed in the form of a periodic curve and comprising the main charge, and then both charges are simultaneously detonated.

The plug includes an internally tapered expansion sleeve, a frusto-conical piston disposed within the sleeve and an extension member to expedite plug placement. By remotely detonating an explosive disposed within the plug, the piston is driven forward to expand the sleeve against the surrounding tube surface. By modifying the physical structure of the plug, the energy-displacement relationship between the piston and sleeve may be selectively controlled.

摘要： The invention relates to the production equipment to be used for explosion treatment of materials. An detonation chamber or arrangement for explosion treatment of materials comprises a chamber consisting of two metal casings received in each other with a sound insulating layer therebetween. The chamber accommodates a work table consisting of metal slabs with spacers therebetween. In addition, the arrangement comprises a charge initiation system and a system for ventilating the working space of the chamber. According to the invention, the acoustic stiffness of the spacers differs from the acoustic stiffness of the slabs proper, the slabs being, in turn, interconnected. The arrangement is designed for conducting production processes with the explosion treatment of materials and may be used in conventional production work-shops.

摘要： The device for closing off a defective heat exchanger tube includes a metallic plug having a blind hole in which a sleeve of plastic, cardboard or the like is mounted. The plug has a cylindrical cross-section at the forward end to fit in the tube and a conically tapered outer surface at the open end. The sleeve encloses an explosive charge within the plane of the conically tapered outer surface of the plug and is provided with an enlarged end portion which projects from the plug. This end portion is conically tapered and slotted to jam in the heat exchanger tube. Upon detonation, the explosive charge expands and welds the conically tapered surface portion of the plug to the heat exchanger tube to close off the end of the tube.

摘要： A method of explosively joining tubes to fittings by first inserting the tube into a double tapered hole bored in the fitting and then positioning a close fitting wooden dowel having a charge of sheet explosive wrapped therearound in the tube under the tapered area. The double tapered cavity between the outer wall of the tube and the fitting is then evacuated by withdrawing the air therefrom and the explosive is detonated causing the tube to expand radially outward against the wall of the double tapered cavity producing a high integrity bond between the tube and the fitting.
