A laser microphone comprises a laser-diode associated with a low-noise laser driver TX; and a photo-diode associated with a low-noise photo-diode receiver RX. The low-noise laser driver TX supplies a drive current which is a combination of a Direct Current component having a first bandwidth, and an attenuated version of an Alternating Current component having a second, different, bandwidth. Additionally or alternatively, the low-noise photo-diode receiver RX utilizes hardware-based demodulation of the analog signal, and operates to remove a Direct Current component of its output signal prior to digitization.

摘要： The present invention relates to an all-optical pressure sensor comprising a waveguide accommodating a distributed Bragg reflector. Pressure sensing can then be provided by utilizing effective index modulation of the waveguide and detection of a wavelength shift of light reflected from the Bragg reflector. Sound sensing may also be provided thereby having an all-optical microphone. One embodiment of the invention relates to an optical pressure sensor comprising at least one outer membrane and a waveguide, the waveguide comprising at least one core for confining and guiding light, at least one distributed Bragg reflector located in said at least one core, and at least one inner deflecting element forming at least a part of the core, wherein the pressure sensor is configured such that the geometry and/or dimension of the at least one core is changed when the at least one outer membrane is submitted to pressure.

The optical cavity system includes at least one photodetector configured to receive at least a portion of the optical beam to generate a microphone signal that is indicative of the vibration of the membranous mirror resulting from the acoustic input signal based on the reflection of the optical beam. The system further includes an acoustic processor configured to process the microphone signal to calculate a frequency of the acoustic input signal.

The capacitive transducer includes an element which has multiple kinds of cells, each cell including: a first electrode; a vibrating film including a second electrode, the second electrode being opposed to the first electrode with a gap therebetween; and a support portion that supports the vibrating film so as to form the gap. The multiple kinds of cells have different ratios of an area of one of the first electrode and the second electrode to an area of the gap when viewed from a normal direction of the vibrating film. There is provided a method of communicating a sound, including the steps of: transmitting, onto an optical link, pairs of signal copies, the signal copies of a given pair having a time offset relative to one another; applying the audible sound to the optical link, such that the audible sound causes a phase modulation to the transmitted signal copies; receiving modulated signal copies previously transmitted onto the link; and, for received pairs of signal copies, causing one signal copy of a pair to mix with the other signal copy of that pair so as to produce a signal representative of the sound. The sound is an audible sound. It has been found that a delay of at least 75 micro seconds allows for a better reproduction of audio sounds, since these have a relatively low frequency content.
