    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small-sized image forming apparatus for shortening assembly time. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes a support part for supporting a carriage 66, and a shared frame 21 configured to include the support part for supporting an image sensor 68.       SOLUTION: When scanning is desired, the switching device 200 scans a document on a roller 210 and receives optical signals between a light beam 240 and a light beam 245. The optical signals obtained by scanning between these light beams 240 and 245 are transmitted to a reflection unit 230 through a lens 220 and reflected to a light distribution unit 270 through the lens 220, the light distribution unit 270 performs switching in accordance with the current operation demand of the switching device. When printing is performed, the switching device 200 actuates an optical transmitter 290 to transmit an optical signal to the light distribution unit 270. The light beam 260 constituted by the optical signal is transmitted to the reflection unit 230 through the lens 220.
