    • PURPOSE: A method for evaluating plasma resistance using arc is provided to evaluate the durability of a component by applying arc to a chamber and measuring emitted particles from the coating layer of a component. CONSTITUTION: The specimen of a coating component and an optical emission spectroscopy(OES) are arranged in a chamber(P1). Plasma is generated in the chamber in order to apply arc to the specimen of the coating component(P2). Particles are emitted from the specimen by the arc. The OES analyzes the particles in order to quantify the peak size of aluminum or oxygen component(P3). Based on the analysis data, plasma resistance is evaluated(P4).

    • A welding observation device is provided to use a telecentric optical system and a photochromic filter (PCF), as an arc discharge light filtering optical system, for the confirmation of a welding condition under welding arc discharge without forming an image on the PCF, so that a light reducing performance is kept even in the case where a focus is shifted from the PCF with good monitoring of the welding condition. The welding observation device is comprised of an arc welding unit (8), an objective optical system (1, 2) for collecting light from the arc welding unit (8), a telecentric optical system (3) for guiding the light collected by the objective optical system (1, 2), a PCF (4) for irradiating the light guided by the telecentric optical system (3), and a solid state image picking-up device (9) for receiving light to pass through the PCF (4), wherein the light from the arc welding unit (8) is reduced in part by the PCF (4).

    • A method of quantitatively determining the average compositions of oxide inclusions and the oxygen concentration in a metallic material, such as steel, in a short time only by using an emission spectrophotometer, comprising (1) causing electric discharges between the metallic material and a counter electrode in an inert gas atmosphere to obtain emission spectra, (2) selects electric charges resulting in that at least one of the oxygen spectrum and the oxide-constituting element spectrum has an intensity stronger than a predetermined value, and (3) subtracting the background from the intensities of the oxygen spectra and/or the oxide- constituting element spectra resulted from the selected charges and summing the remainders to obtain the intensity of the sum spectrum, thereby to quantitatively determining them by using a working curve.
