    • Method and system for installing guide rails (1), such as the car guide rails and/or the counterweight guide rails, on the vertical wall (3) of the elevator shaft (2) of a building, in which method the guide rail (1) is installed by assembly in phases from the bottom upwards by placing guide rail sections (41, 42, 43, 44 . . . ) that are shorter than the whole length of the guide rail one on top of the other, and by fixing the guide rail sections to the vertical wall (3) with guide rail fixings (5). The alignment of each lower guide rail section that is already installed and fixed is used as a comparison point for the alignment of the next upper guide rail section to be installed above it, such that each upper guide rail section is installed in alignment with each consecutive lower guide rail section that is already installed. The system likewise comprises means for using the alignment of each lower guide rail section that is already installed and fixed as a comparison point for the alignment of the next upper guide rail section to be installed above it, such that each upper guide rail section is installed in alignment with each consecutive lower guide rail section that is already installed. The system is used preferably in installing the guide rails of a tower building. Similarly, its use is advantageous in installing guide rails with the jump lift technique.

    • Method and system for installing the guide rails (1, 2), such as the car guide rails and/or counterweight guide rails, in an elevator shaft (3). The guide rails are installed by assembly in phases starting from the bottom (4) of the elevator shaft by placing one on top of the other guide rail sections (51, 52; 61, 62; 71, 72 . . . ) that are shorter than the whole length of the guide rail and by aligning the guide rail sections perpendicularly by means of the laser beam produced by a direction laser (8). The direction laser (8) is moved upwards along with progressive assembly of the guide rail. As assembly progresses the direction laser (8) is supported in the proximity of the top end of the topmost vertically aligned guide rail section at the time for aligning the next guide rail section to be installed in the vertical direction. These phases are repeated until the entire guide rail is assembled. The system comprises an alignment appliance (12), which can be supported against a guide rail section and fixed to it by means of a permanent magnet (20). In addition the alignment appliance contains an aligning element (13), at which the laser beam produced by the direction laser can be directed.

    • An apparatus and method for installing car and counterweight rails for elevators accurately positioned the rails in a linear, parallel orientation. The apparatus includes a pair of mirror-image guide assemblies which attach to the rails. Each assembly includes an adjustable reference guide assembly which positions the rail relative to an adjacent plumb line. The assembly also includes an interconnecting guide line which ensures co-planar disposition of certain rail surfaces. The method includes the steps of suspending the car and counterweight rails within the elevator shaft from above. A plumb line is suspended adjacent each rail. The lower terminus of each rails is then secured in an appropriate position relative to the other rails and the hoistway walls. The guide assemblies are then secured to the rails and adjusted to receive the plumb line in a reference location. The assemblies are then incrementally moved up the rails, the rails are adjusted such that the plumb line is received within the assemblies at the reference location and the rails are secured to the shaft walls in the desired position.
