摘要： An interbody spinal implant, such as a solid-body or composite implant. The implant has at least one integration surface with a roughened surface topography including a repeating pattern, without sharp teeth that risk damage to bone structures, adapted to grip bone through friction generated when the implant is placed between two vertebral endplates and to inhibit migration of the implant. The repeating pattern is formed of at least three at least partially overlapping repeating patterns. The repeating patterns may radiate at a fixed distance from at least one point and may include recesses having a slope of thirty degrees or less relative to the integration surface. Also disclosed are processes of fabricating the integration surfaces.

摘要： An intervertebral disk prostheses for the total replacement of an intervertebral disk of the lumbar and cervical spine has an upper plate having upwardly projecting formations anchoring it to an upper vertebra on its upper face and a concavity on its inner face surrounded by an edge. A lower plate is provided with downwardly projecting formations anchoring it to a lower vertebra on its lower face and a flat inner face surrounding a groove extending front-to-back. A middle plate between the upper and lower plate has on its upper face a convexity that is identically or differently shaped to the concavity on the inner face of the upper plate and a ridge extending front-to-back surrounded by a flat lower face of the middle plate. The ridge has flanks and the groove houses the ridge of the middle plate and permits the ridge to slide front-to-back in the groove.

摘要： The shoulder prosthesis has a stem (10), a ball head (20) and a middle section (30) that can be attached to the proximal end (12) of the stem (10) and to which the ball head (50) can be attached. The middle section (30) can be clamped to an attachment element (20) that is adjustable in a first direction at the proximal end (12) of the stem (10), the first direction lying in the resection plane or parallel thereto. The first direction generally runs approximately medially-laterally. The attachment element (20) can be displaceable on the stem (10) by means of a dovetail guide (15) or guided displaceable in a guide bore in the stem (10). The middle section can be clamped against the attachment element (20), whereby the attachment element (20) and the middle section (30) can be fixed.

The interface of the bearing surface and the first prosthetic component defines the joint articulation. A signal source and sensor are affixed on opposite sides of the joint articulation. The sensor generates a second signal that has a characteristic that varies depending on the distance between the sensor and the signal source. A transmitter transmits a signal. The signal has a characteristic that varies depending on the characteristic of the second signal. This system can be used to measure a dimension of the joint space and to determine whether a dimension of the joint space has changed over time. The system may alternatively use magnets and magnetic sensors.

摘要： A head for a surgical introducing tool includes a cup holding element for releasably holding an acetabular cup, and a retaining element for preventing undesirable release of the acetabular cup from the holding element. The holding element is receivable in a space defined by an articulating inner surface of the acetabular cup and includes a seal and an air passage by which the acetabular cup can be held to the head by vacuum. The retaining element is positioned radially outwardly relative to the holding element and dimensioned to be a close fit with the acetabular cup. In use, relative tilting of polar axes of the head and the acetabular cup is prevented or limited by the retaining element while the cup is held by the holding element, so that accidental separation of the cup from the holding element is prevented.
