    • Described are a system and method for establishing a communication session between an end user and a communication destination of an interactive voice response (IVR) system. A click-to-call server transmits a web page over a network for display in a browser window at a client system. The web page presents a web menu corresponding to an IVR audio menu of the IVR system and has a link by which the end user of the client system can submit a click-to-call request. The click-to-call server receives a click-to-call request from the client system over the network in response to activation of the link in the web page. The click-to-call server sets up a communication session between a communication device identified by the end user and a communication destination of the IVR system in response to receiving the click-to-call request.

    • A method and system enables communications between a switched telephone network and a wireless network comprising a plurality of Mobile Switching Centers (MSCs). Each MSC is connected by respective interfaces to a broadband packet network used for the transfer of bearer traffic between the MSCs, and controls wireless communications with a respective plurality of wireless transceivers. The switched telephone network and the wireless network are interconnected by at least one media gateway for conveying bearer traffic between the switched telephone network and the broadband packet network. The system comprises a location register and a call manager. The location register is adapted to store, in respect of each wireless transceiver, information identifying a respective current MSC controlling communications with the wireless transceiver. The call manager is adapted to: query the location register to obtain the information identifying the current MSC respecting the selected wireless transceiver; and enable a communications path across the broadband packet network between an inbound media gateway and the current MSC. The advantages include simplified routing, congestion reduction and reduced cost of infrastructure to support a rapidly expanding wireless subscriber base.

    • The present invention moves service control, including call control, for a user element from any number of subsystems to a multimedia subsystem (MS). Call control for originating or terminating a call in any subsystem as well as transferring the call between user elements is anchored at a continuity control function (CCF) in the MS. A call may be transferred by the CCF from a first user element to a second user element in the same or different subsystems upon receiving a request from the second user element. A user may invoke a transfer from the first user element to the second user element by having the second user element send an appropriate request to the CCF. The request may be provided to the CCF by initiating a call from the second user element that is intended for the CCF, when the call with the first user element is active.

    • The present invention provides an audio source selection process for a conference bridge. The conference bridge receives multiple audio sources and selects at least one of the audio sources based on the relative signal levels associated with the audio signal at each of the audio sources. The audio signals associated with the selected source are delivered to conference participants via one or more audio outputs. The conference bridge will repeatedly employ a selection process to select an audio source based on signal level measurements for the audio signals of the audio sources. During the selection process, the influence of a selected audio source relative to the other unselected audio sources is reduced, after the selected audio source has remained selected for more than a first time period.

    • The present invention provides an efficient way for a conference participant to initiate a call into an audio bridge to join a conference call. To initiate the call into the audio bridge, a multimedia terminal sends to a conference server an address for a telephony terminal, an address for the audio bridge, and an access code. The conference server will instruct a call server to establish a bearer path for the call between the telephony terminal and the audio bridge using the respective addresses. The conference server also provides the access code to the call server, which delivers the access code to the audio bridge in association with establishing the call into the audio bridge. The audio bridge uses the access code to identify the conference call to which the call between the telephony terminal and the audio bridge should join, and adds the call to the conference call.

    • The present invention relates to a communication environment where calls are established with a single mobile terminal through either a cellular network or a packet network via a local wireless adaptor, which is capable of wirelessly communicating with the mobile terminal. As such, the mobile terminal may facilitate traditional cellular calls via the wireless network, or packet-based calls via the local wireless adaptor. When the mobile terminal is involved in a call and within a communication zone of the local wireless adaptor, the packet-based call is facilitated via the local wireless adaptor. As the mobile terminal approaches the outer limits of the communication zone, the call to the mobile terminal is transferred to another connection which is established through the cellular network. As such, the call may continue via the cellular network when local wireless communications are no longer available or not desired by the user.
