    • A connector housing (1) of a connector (1) is constituted by a lower housing (7), which is mounted on a printed circuit board (2), and an upper housing (8) connected to the lower housing (7) in such a manner as to be able to perform shifting movement with respect the housing (7). Further, terminals (6) are provided in such a way as to penetrate through a partitioning wall portion (8a) of the upper housing (8) and through a connecting block portion (7b) of the lower housing (7). At that time, tapered holes (7d) are provided in the connecting block portion (7b). The terminals (6) are maintained in a state in which a bending deformation thereof caused by the shifting movement of the upper housing (8) is allowed. Consequently, when the connector (1) is connected to the mating connector (3), the connectors (1, 3) can be connected to each other by performing the shifting movement of the upper housing (8) thereby to concurrently absorb the positional displacement therebetween. Moreover, occurrences of problems, such as breakage and bend of the terminals (6) at that time, are prevented.

    • An optical pick-up device invention is adapted according to the present invention to reproduce an information signal recorded on a multi-layer optical disc having a plurality of information signal storage layers on which information signals are stored. The optical pick-up device includes a light source for emitting a light beam, an optical means for dividing the light beam emitted from the light source into three separate beams composed of a main beam and first and second side beams and radiating these beams onto the multi-layer optical disc, a main beam-receiving member for receiving the main beam reflected from the multi-layer optical disc, first and second side beam-receiving members for receiving the first and second side beams reflected from the multi-layer optical disc, respectively, and a means for outputting a detection signal indicative of a quantity of light in response to the light quantity received by the main beam-receiving member, the first side beam-receiving member and the second side beam-receiving member. The first side beam-receiving member and the second side beam-receiving member are spaced a given distance apart from the main beam-receiving member so that no interference with the main beam reflected from an unfocused information signal storage layer of the multi-layer optical disc is caused, so that the light beam reflected from the unfocused information signal storage layer of the multi-layer optical disc does not have any influence on function of the device.

    • The present invention is to provide a decoder which detects a start code in a layered coded data stream on a layer basis for improving an error detecting function to reduce possible damaging effects, and replaces a detected start code with minor error by an appropriate start code to maintain decoding. The decoder includes a unique pattern detector which detects a start code pattern in a layered coded data stream, a start code identifier which identifies the detected start code pattern based on a given condition, a similarity calculator which calculates similarity as an evaluation between the error detected start code pattern and an expected start code based on layer, and a similarity based replacement identifier which replaces the error detected start code pattern by the most appropriate replacement selected based on the similarity based evaluation, and otherwise the priority based replacement identifier which selects a replacement by the priority order.

    • A mass spectrometer and a mass spectrometry method having a high ion selection efficiency are provided. The mass spectrometer comprises an ion trap, a sample introducing device, an electron gun, a detector, a power supply for applying voltage to the ion trap, a control device for controlling the power supply and the electron gun, a mass analyzing device for performing mass spectrometry based on a detected signal of the detector. Using an auxiliary power supply, direction of an auxiliary electric field generated between end cap electrodes is made to point only toward the detector. In this occasion, by setting the cycle of the auxiliary voltage near the oscillation cycle of interest ion species in the axial direction, the interest ion species are synchronized with the auxiliary electric field to be certainly unstabilized in the detector side.
