摘要： A method is provided for forming a power semiconductor device. The method begins by providing a substrate of a second conductivity type and then forming a voltage sustaining region on the substrate. The voltage sustaining region is formed by depositing an epitaxial layer of a first conductivity type on the substrate and forming at least one terraced trench in the epitaxial layer. The terraced trench has a plurality of portions that differ in width to define at least one annular ledge therebetween. A barrier material is deposited along the walls of the trench. A dopant of a second conductivity type is implanted through the barrier material lining the annular ledge and said trench bottom and into adjacent portions of the epitaxial layer. The dopant is diffused to form an annular doped region in the epitaxial layer and at least one other region located below the annular doped region.

摘要： Systems and methods are provided for inducing a therapeutic state of hypothermia in a patient. Cold biocompatible liquid is infused into a patient at a defined temperature and pressure and at a fairly rapid rate to quickly induce hypothermia. In one system, cold liquid is provided from a flowing source. In another, cold liquid is forced out of a refrigerated bag, the pressure on the bag arising from air pressure on the bag, an infusor cuff, or any other technique which may apply such pressure. The cold liquid may be cooled in advance of the infusion or via a cold plate which forms a portion of the system.

摘要： The present invention is directed to a drug delivery pump apparatus, which comprises: (a) an expandable and contractible enclosure having an interior volume that defines a medication reservoir; (b) one or more electroactive polymer actuators; (c) a medication outlet port providing fluid communication between the interior volume of the contractible and expandable enclosure and an exterior of the delivery pump apparatus; and (d) a control unit electrically coupled to the one or more actuators and sending control signals to the same. The one or more electroactive polymer actuators act to reduce the interior volume of the contractible and expandable enclosure based upon the received control signals. The present invention is also directed to a method of delivering a liquid therapeutic agent to a patient. The method comprises: (a) providing the above infusion pump apparatus; (b) placing the outlet port of the infusion pump apparatus in fluid communication with a patient; and (c) sending the control signals to the one or more actuators to reduce the internal volume of the contractible and expandable enclosure, thereby forcing a portion of the liquid therapeutic agent within the medication reservoir through the outlet port and into the patient
