    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new method for distilling an oxystyrene derivative, causing no defect of conventional methods.
      SOLUTION: This method for distilling an oxystyrene derivative is characterized by adding, as a polymerization inhibitor, an alkylhydroquinone derivative into the oxystyrene derivative represented by general formula (I) (wherein, R is an alkyl, haloalkyl, cycloalkyl, cycloalkylalkyl, aryl, especially, phenyl, aralkyl, especially, benzyl, alkoxyalkyl, alkanoyl, alkoxycarbonyl, aralkyloxycarbonyl or alkylsilyl) and distilling the oxystyrene derivative in the presence of the alkylhydroquinone derivative.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new method for distilling an oxystyrene derivative without causing disadvantages of a conventional method.
      SOLUTION: This method for distilling the oxystyrene derivative represented by the following general formula (I) (wherein, R denotes an alkyl group, a haloalkyl group, a cycloalkyl group, a cycloalkylalkyl group, a substituted or an unsubstituted aryl group, especially phenyl group, a substituted or an unsubstituted aralkyl group, especially benzyl group, an alkoxyalkyl group, an alkanoyl group, especially acetyl group, an alkoxycarbonyl group, an aralkyloxycarbonyl group or an alkylsilyl group) is characterized as follows. Naphthoquinone or a naphthoquinone derivative as a polymerization inhibitor is added to the oxystyrene derivative to distill the oxystyrene derivative in the presence of the polymerization inhibitor. The method provides the following effects. A highly viscous polymeric substance is prevented from forming during the distillation step and the recovery ratio of the distilled oxystyrene derivative is high.
