    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rolling mill and a rolling method for performing continuous rolling while controlling the meandering of a metallic material such as a steel strip.
      SOLUTION: The rolling mill for metallic materials has a device for holding a distance between roll chocks provided with the next (a) and (b). (a) A wedge piling block which functions as a propping means between the roll chocks by being arranged between respective roll chocks of work rolls and intermediate rolls and/or between respective roll chocks of the intermediate rolls and a back up rolls and comprises a plurality of wedge bodies the mutual slopes of which are superimposed slidably in the direction of gradient of the slope so that the tip sides of the wedges are made into the opposite direction and the height of which is made changeable by sliding and moving at least one of the wedge bodies to the other wedge body. (b) An actuator with which at least one of the wedge bodies of which comprise the wedge piling block is slid and moved to the other wedge body and it is hold at an arbitrary sliding position.
