    • Provided is a non-coring needle for venous access implantatable port comprising a puncturing assembly comprising two wings having a central sleeve, an L-shaped needle coupled to the sleeve, the needle including an annular groove on its horizontal portion, and a plastic tubing coupled to the sleeve; and a syringe barrel comprising an internal chamber having a forward opening, and an elongate slot formed on the syringe barrel and being in communication with the chamber. The groove is located at a first dent of the slot when the needle is concealed in the chamber in a non-use position, the groove is located at a forward second dent of the slot when the needle is fully extended from the opening for use, and the groove is permanently locked at a rear triangular recess of the slot when the needle is fully retracted into the chamber respectively.

    • A safety needle device and positive flush mechanism for use with a vascular access port. In one embodiment, the combination needle assembly includes a needle, a body and a base, the body being collapsible to expunge fluid therefrom as the needle is withdrawn from a vascular access port. In another embodiment, the combination needle assembly includes a needle, a housing and a reservoir, the housing squeezing the reservoir to expunge fluid therefrom as the needle is withdrawn from the port. In another embodiment, the needle assembly includes a compression plate and balloon extension, the compression plate forcing fluid out of the balloon extension as the needle is withdrawn from the port. In all embodiments, the needle assembly is configured to provide a positive flush to overcome negative pressures in the vascular access port, while also providing a locking mechanism to prevent accidental needle sticks.

    • A syringe assembly including a needle cannula having a five-beveled point and a needle shield formed of a styrene block poly(ethylene/butylene) thermoplastic elastomer which significantly reduces needle penetration force and may reduce the cycle time for gas sterilization. The multi-beveled needle cannula point includes a primary bevel, a pair of tip bevels and a pair of middle bevels each intermediate the primary bevel and a respective tip bevel, wherein the angles of rotation of the primary bevel and the intermediate bevels are substantially equal resulting in reduced heights of intercepts between the bevels, therby reducing needle penetration force. The needle shield maintains the sharpness of the needle cannula during application, sterilization and removal of the shield and it is believed that the needle shield will also reduce the cycle time of gas sterilization as compared to rubber needle shields and vulcanizate thermoplastic elastomers.

    • A hypodermic needle featuring a multi-beveled point geometry is disclosed. In one embodiment, the multi-beveled point features a primary bevel, a pair of tip bevels, and a pair of middle bevels each intermediate the primary bevel and a respective one of the tip bevels. The primary and middle bevels are provided at angles of inclination, measured between the central axis and a reference plane that are substantially identical. The tip bevels are formed at an angle of inclination respective to the central axis which is not equal to the angle of inclination at which the primary and middle bevels are formed. The resulting five-beveled point geometry contributes to a more continuous bevel face free of abrupt intercepts or transitions between the respective bevel faces, lessening the penetration force required to urge the needle point through skin, flesh, or other material.
