    • A color display has a transparent cover glass having a color stripe filter; a translucent data film located in proximity to a face of the color stripe filter to overlap and display image information; a writing device for writing the information to the data film; an erasing device for erasing the written information from the data film; a writing-erasing controller for controlling operations of the writing and erasing devices; a winder for selectively feeding the data film in normal and reverse directions by forming the data film in a web shape, and winding the data film; a controller for controlling an operation of the winder; and an illuminating device for visualizing these information toward a viewer. In this color display, an image written to the data film can be completely erased rapidly and it is possible to obtain an image having a high quality and a very preferable contrast without any shift in image color. Further, data films can be efficiently exchanged and the color display has a simplified structure and is cheaply manufactured.

    • A recording element unit includes a support member, a recording element provided on the support member and having a wiring layer for supplying electrical signals, and a bump-shaped electrode connected to the wiring layer so as to be raised therefrom. The bump-shaped electrode includes a plurality of raised portions. Such a bump-shaped electrode is also included in a recording element driving unit, an ink jet unit, and an ink jet driving unit. This arrangement solves the problem of the low reliability of the electrical connection between a recording element substrate, on which the electrode is positioned, and a driving element substrate, for driving the recording element. The unit also includes first and second protective layers with the second protective layer having a thickness greater than that of the first. This feature provides structural strength to the support member in order to prevent warping.

    • A color copier scans an original carrying a multi-color image in one direction to form toner images of different color components thereof on respective photosensitive drums while moving a transfer sheet in the opposite direction to transfer in registration thereon the several toner images and thereby form a composite color image of the original without reversing the rotational direction of the drums. After the latent image on a given drum is developed with a toner of a respective color, the drum is quenched to remove residual charge by irradiating it with light of a color which is not significantly absorbed by the toner on the drum. The quenching light color differs as between different drums, and for a given drum the quenching light color differs from the color of the light used to form the latent image on that drum.

    • An amplitude equalizer is provided for equalizing amplitude distorted signals within a predetermined frequency band. The amplitude equalizer comprises first means for splitting signals into first and second split signals. A first delay device receives one of the two split signals, and a second signal splitter splits the output of the first delay device into third and fourth split signals, the third split signal being applied to a second delay device having a delay equal to the delay of the first delay device. The output of the second delay device is combined with the second output from the first signal splitter in a first signal combiner, the output of which is applied to a circuit for adjusting the polarity and gain of the signal applied thereto. The output of the polarity and gain adjusting circuit is applied to a second signal combiner which combines the adjusted signal with the fourth output from the second signal splitter to thereby provide equalized signals. As organized above, the equalizer can provide for arbitrary selection of the desired frequency regions and maximium equalized amplitude by simply varying either the amplitude or attenuation factor, and by properly choosing the delay time. Further, equalization of secondary and higher order distortion can be achieved by virtue of constant delay over the entire frequency region.

    • In successively copying a plurality of continuous pages of a book original by means of a copying apparatus adapted to print images of the pages on opposite surfaces of each copy sheet, a printing operation is controlled in such a manner that a series of processes including, illumination of the pages, charging and exposing of a photosensitive drum, developing, fixing and transfer printing of visible images, and ejection of printed copy sheets is automatically performed, if the book original is opened at desired pages and placed on an original placing glass plate of the copying apparatus in a normal condition in which the top of the book original is remote from the operator. With the operator merely turning the pages, the control method enables the production of a bundle or bundles of duplicate copies of the pages of the same order and arrangement as the book original, regardless of whether the book original is bound on the left side or on the right side and whether the first and last pages to be copied have even numbers or odd numbers. In copying the adjacent two pages, two pages can be copied in separate copying processes or in a single continuous copying process for the two pages.
